Considering we were paying top dollar for this holiday I expected so much more from the Rarotongan. Our booking was messed up and we did not get the room we asked for. However this was addressed satisfactorily by the staff at check in on arrival. Our rooms were clean and functional and well positioned on the beach but not amazing... More

We had a very comfortable week here --- and there was lots of positive features about it. Our room was roomy and comfortable and kept clean and tidy for us. The garden outside was pretty and quiet and we could sit there and read and talk to the chickens---- just not too happy that someone on balcony above dropped cigarette... More

Resort grounds were nice. Good list of activities. Rooms were very dated though. We were upgraded to the Sanctuary which was much nicer. We had a great room there for the majority of our stay. Highly recommended. Facilities and restaurants shared between the two hotels. Food was average. Breakfast at the Raro was very poor and quite dirty if you... More

If you read the news over here you will see that this resort has been getting slammed for charges they attach to every payment you make by eftpos or credit card. Yes there is a money machine but if its not your bank, there goes another $7 charge so you can't win. Thats if you can get served at the... More

Yes, it's a bit tired, but family stayed here in unit 41 & it was fine for them - facilities for kids are excellent even though not bang up to date, gardens are well kept and the beach is right there. Eating facilities were what you'd expect of a large resort - nothing special really, but some nice outlooks. Bars... More

Great location but a really really tired out old resort. Food was mediocre to poor and overpriced so we ate elsewhere. Milkshake flavorings used as substitutes for those fantastic looking cocktails you see advertised on the in house promotional video, which is a complete sham and thoroughly misleading. Activity gear dilapidated or broken, threadbare towels issued daily, unattentive staff or... More

Not a great place to stay and the most horrifying was how dirty the dinning room was. Eating breakfast was not enjoyable and we changed our plans and couldn't face eating dinner there. Room service was ok except they didn't clean the coffee mugs. I know is trivial but it was just one more thing the hotel could not do... More

Just back from a week at The Rarotongan Hotel and Spa. The facilities are starting to get a little tired. The rooms were clean and tidy but a little dated. The pool area was nice but the restaurant and bar area could do with a spruce up. The staff were lovely but there seemed to be no organisation when it... More

Just got back from 2 weeks at the Rarotongan with my girlfriend. Let's start with the positive. Fantastic location, with a beautiful beach directly out front with excellent snorkelling. You can also use kayaks, stand up paddle boards etc. There is a lot to do, with plenty of games, tennis courts, pool etc. With such a great location, the Resort... More

So we booked our trip from Expedia. It included air fare and accommodation. On arrival we reported to the resort desk at the airport . They didn't have us down as arrivals from the flight. Anyway the lady advised us to get onto their bus as we had our copy of the booking and obviously we had come in by flight... More
