The staff at the resort are congenial and helpful, this includes the cleaners, restaurant staff and the cheerful staff at reception. The resort caters for adults, providing a child free environment on the beach. The main resort caters for families and provides additional opportunities for restaurants and entertainment. The local customs are nurtured with three nights weekly performances of cultural... More

Nobody can deny that the location is great – and if you pay top dollar you will have a good view of the beach, the lagoon and the reef beyond. But it ends there. The Sanctuary has the feel of a resort that has fallen on hard times and, with the present lack of stewardship or management, deserves to fall... More

The cocktail bar service was one the worst experience in our years of travel around the world. No knowledge of drinks and sullen service. We heard from a guest that the waiter service in the restaurant was abysmal and took approaches to the desk to get the attention of staff.

We could have stayed forever........ Unfortunately, we only had one night here while Air NZ sorted out a problem with our aircraft The staff couldn't have been more helpful under difficult circumstances. The room we were allocated was large, and had a view over the beach. We had dinner in the more casual of their 3 restaurants; the food was... More

The reason we booked this resort was adults only (keep that in mind) 4 nights during our stay the restaurant was closed which meant we had to eat in the Rarotongan next door ...with all the children! Just what we did not want, when I asked why it was closed they claimed it was the weather! it was much more... More

We were very disappointed! The Service is nothing short of poor. You can sit at a table for up to 15 minutes before your waited on. Several times, we just got up and left. Dinners were far better at other locations (Alberto's and Hidden Valley Were great). We went to the Island Night and did not see a pig in... More

What a rip off this place is. If you want unfriendly staff, bad service, horrible food then go. The only plus is the magnificent snorkelling & location. It is way overpriced for what you receive. Breakfast is so bad I don't know why they bother, I asked if there was a banana & they said no, so we picked one... More

Lots to like about the resort. We threw ourselves into the activities (wove hats out of palm leaves, learnt to play drums, printed sarongs, went on walks ...). The snorkelling was excellent, and there were plenty of beach lounges and equipment such as flippers, paddle boards etc. The kids in our party loved hunting for crabs. Most of the staff... More

We stayed at the Sanctuary for 7 nights in July 2014 to attend a friends wedding at The Rarotongan resort next door. We enjoyed our trip but had mixed feelings about the resort..... PRO's * The Sanctuary gardens and rooms were very nice - we were very pleased with our upper level room 721 which was probably the closest unit... More

We spent 5 nights here after spending 8 nights at its sister resort The Aitutaki Lagoon Resort and Spa.We had to ask to be checked in so no fancy welcome or drink for us,it was raining so we had to walk through puddles and no undercover to get to our room, that wasn't ready at 3.30pm (check in was 2pm).Once...
