We spent a week at Farakunku Lodges last January and resolved to return this Winter, drawn back by the comfort of the lodges, the peaceful location away from the main resorts, and the unrivalled hospitality and helpfulness of the hosts. We were not disappointed, enjoying our holiday even more than last year. The holiday represents excellent value for money, fine food... More

We only stayed one night on our return home, expecting just to relax after a week of African bustle but we got much more. Heather and Moses have created an oasis in the African bush. The lodges, the food and the hospitality are wonderful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. All you need for an relaxing stay. Our hosts couldn't... More

We originally booked for four nights in this oasis but extended and stayed 9 nights. It is ideally situated to visit major spots with only the farthest upriver trips dictating that you need other accommodation for a few nights. Heather and Moses are excellent at ensuring your needs are met and any tours that you require are organised with the... More

We spent 4 nights at Farakunku Ecolodge with lovely hosts Heather and Moses as part of a birding trip. We stayed in one of four beautiful suites with a fabulous king sized four poster bed draped in white net, sitting area and ensuite bathroom. We had a private terrace outside with chairs and a hammock slung in the shade of... More

Describing The Gambia and Farakunku is difficult as it is different things to different people. A relaxing holiday - yes; quality accommodation, yes: an active holiday, yes; an eye-opening holiday, yes. Sun, sun, sun. No mosquitos seen during our week, in fact no nasties at all. The more you put yourself into the holiday the more you get out of... More

It is a wonderful Lodge in a tranquil and rural setting. Your hosts Heather and Moses are very special people who look after you like family and friends. The lodges are spacious and pristine with four distinct areas, a great bathroom, comfy living area, sleeping area with lovely netted four poster beds and a dressing area with a lockable door... More

We had a great stay at the Farakunku Lodges, the owners Heather and Moses were extremely good hosts. The lodges are spacious, kept spotlessly clean and have a walk in wardrobe where you can lock your valuables. The staff were always freindly and helpful. Moses was happy to drive us to the local beach (free of charge) We only stayed... More

Everything previously said is true, Farakunku Lodge is the most relaxing place to stay in Gambia. The gardens are a delight well planted to encourage the birds/wildlife, but still provide enough shade from the sun. The Lodges are immaculate, lovely netted four poster bed, plenty of room to relax inside, loved the lockable walk in waldrobe kept everything tidy. The... More

Farakunku Lodge is even nicer than the photos on its website indicate, perhaps because the gardens are more established now. The lodge was really lovely with a four poster bed in a spacious and cool bedroom, walk in wardrobe and immaculate bathroom (where everything worked). The hosts - Heather and Moses - are lovely as well! Moses took us where... More

Modern, clean-friendly lodge in Tujering, Gambia. You can arrange an airport pick up and will pass through the real Gambia as you make your way to the lodge. Think it's worth spending a couple of nights here away from the busy touristy areas. The hosts were welcoming, the staff courteous and the food was delicious. There is a museum, good walks... More
