Just returned from three nights at the Nag's Head. This was our second visit, and we will definitely be back again as soon as an opportunity arises. We opted for the suite again, which is excellent, lots of space, and well equipped. We spent our evenings in the bar/restaurant and ate from the excellent and varied menu. The food is... More

We travel to and from Scotland probably three or four times per year and always break the journey about half way. Having stayed at several inns in the past we seem to at last have found the perfect place. Not too far off the beaten track but far enough to enjoy good hospitality in quiet surroundings. The food was first... More

Food fine but bar man rude and dismissive. Didn't read any reviews before going today for Sunday lunch and thought perhaps I was being overly sensitive. However, it appears numerous people have had similar experience. Disappointing as I would have returned if I had received more welcoming service and I will not be recommending to friends.

We started with an excellent lunch in the Tap Room which had a lovely fire in the fireplace. Friendly atmosphere and good service. Then we were shown to our room which was in a building next to the pub, up quite a few stairs, but worth the climb. It was called a suite, and entry was into the bedroom with... More

Food was excellent in quality and quantity. In a group of 12, service not great. One starter missed and main courses not all served together. Despite this it is a Charming pub and would recommend if in the area.

Came for a meal here the other night for the first night with family and friends. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we received nothing but terrible service. We were hurried to order off a board on the wall. When the lady came over to take our order, we weren't ready so she huffed at us... More

Yet another wonderful lunch at this lovely country inn. Generous portions all cooked to a high standard. Well worth the effort of finding it, they have changed the A1 into A1M. Leave the A1M at either junction 50 or 51 you will not be disappointed.

Again, another enjoyable afternoon in the Nags- with fabulous top notch food drinks and company! I just wish the fish and chips weren’t so good then I may one day try something else! The desserts were yummy too!

A number of quiet good components that did not combine to create a wow, partly due to the tone of the place. Between arising from (the rather narrow) bed and arriving at breakfast are 15 signs directing what to do or not do including avoidance of the use of bath oils! The bedrooms are soulless and while clean and reasonably... More
