What a fantastic place-we brought the dog with us and we were next to some stunning walks next to the river. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was superb including a great quality spread of local foods for breakfast. We will be coming again-thanks to all the staff!

We had a lovely room with a private area overlooking the pool. As my husband was not well during our stay at the hotel we were thankful for our little table and chairs where we could eat simple meals. The swimming pool is small but was still most enjoyable. There are lovely walks by the river and we saw kingfishers... More

It's a sort of country house hotel with buildings (old and new) encircling an informal garden. The staff were great, the room adequate and breakfast fine. Dinner was an odd experience. Apart from its gaudy paintings, the dining-room is elegant and service was good. The food - despite numerous awards - did not meet the most basic criterion. To the... More

Firstly, the hotel is on fabulous grounds - all 5 star ratings here are probably deserved - I can guarantee you they didn't stay in Room 8 (Chambre 8). In fact, if you avoid room 8 you will probably rate this place at least a 4 star. Why does Room 8 even exist? there is no need to guarantee a... More

Booked a room with a view, but even though I am 5' 10" tall could not see out of the windows without standing on a chair. Room very dark with brown wall paper and the light was not good enough to work in. When we booked we were informed that the dinning room would be closed on Sunday evening, which... More

Fabulous place to stay. Top quality Logis de France. First time we stayed in a Chateau and we liked it! Lovely setting near a river and away from the main road. Perfect place for a restful stay or a base for walking, mountain biking or just exploring the area by car (or motorbike). There are various lovely buildings on the... More

This is the second time I have stayed at this charming hotel set beside the beautiful river Mayenne. The "chateau" stands above the river and there are lovely rooms looking down onto the water and the countryside beyond. (You can walk for miles along beside the river). The rooms are very spacious and decorated to a high standard in a... More

My Wife and I stayed two nights at La Marjolaine on demi-pension.It is a beautiful setting with five buildings around a huge grassed area wth an outside pool.Check-in was conducted in almost total silence by a miserable manager who decided it was not worth bothering to converse with English guests. He pointed to our room in the main building and left...
