We hosted a business fishing weekend from Furneaux Lodge with guests from around NZ. The service was outstanding - nothing seemed too much trouble both in the planning stages and over the 3 days we were there this included the boat service from mooring to jetty and the bar/restaurant staff. The 2 bedroom chalets were clean, comfortable and well appointed... More

We moored and had lunch here. It was a wonderful setting with great food. At end of jetty it could do with a sign pointing to the left so new travelers know where to go. Very casual and relaxing. It was nice to be able to have a shower before we headed of again. Very nice

We stayed 1 night in a self contained room with a family of 5 plus 2 grandparents. It was cosy but plenty of room to sleep. Clean and well maintained. The kitchen had only 2 smallish pots for cooking however the staff in the bar quickly found us a spare frying pan from the main kitchen. The staff were all... More

Lovely and lively! We stayed here as we walked the Queen Charlotte track and being a long weekend, the place was full - not with walkers but with partying boatloads. So the bar overflowed onto the lawns in the warm evening sunshine - good fun. The food was excellent but there were no cheap options - for two meals and... More

Love this location, in such a beautiful part of the Sounds. We stayed one night while walking the Queen Charlotte Track, bar and restaurant area is great, plenty of history and a great outlook. Our accommodation was a Chalet and given the price I was expecting something a lot tidier than we got, needed a lot of maintenance, just very... More

The lodge occupies a fine spot near the head of Endeavour inlet with the fine old building set in well kept lawns and gardens on more flat land than the rest of the Sounds put together. The lodge does provide very nice meals, so this should be a fine overnight stop on the Queen Charlotte Track. Unfortunately the Lodge does... More

I stayed here as part of an inn to inn walk on the Queen Charlotte Track booked with Adventure Company in Picton. I was alone paying the single supplement, but had a 2 bedroom cottage, looking out across the grass to the bay. The interior was very nicely decorated, with separate sitting room, studio style kitchen, a master bedroom and... More

I stayed here whilst walking the track and was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. I stayed in a backpackers cabin and was lucky enough to be the only one in the room. A towel and free tea and coffee was a nice touch. The bathrooms could have been better and the shower cost $2 which is kind of... More

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2015

Having had a wonderful meal at Christmas time here, I chose to bring family that were visiting from the UK for a once a lifetime holiday, to stay here to sample the delights and because Furneaux had the colonial, oldie worldly look over the more contemporary look of other local lodges around, thought it would be a more memorable experience... Stayed at furneaux while doing a 2 day kayak in the sounds, We stayed in a hikers cabin and it was more than adequate for one nights stay, the food in the bar was nice and reasonably priced as were the drinks, I like the fact that the old part of the homestead still has some original features, the relaxed...
