Please don't make the same mistake I did and stay here. If you want to stay in the Sounds I strongly recommend Portage or Punga Cove over Furneaux. The service was far below what I would expect: massive delays when dining, unwelcoming and unhelpful, surly staff, including the manager, and the standard of accommodation was extremely poor. The 'excuse' that... More

We recently stayed here as part of a 10 day trip to NZ. There were 7 in our group (4 adults and 3 children) and I had booked for 1 night in a 2 bedroom chalet and one of the suites to accommodate all of us. Our stay here was the absolute low light of our trip, and unbeleivably disappointing!... More

We recently stayed for 3 nights at this lodge in a 2 bedroom cabin. Upon our arrival we discovered a decomposing mouse in the kitchen cupboard - it had obviously been there for some time. (The staff were obliging and dealt with it quickly.) Though the beds were extremely comfortable and fresh linen given daily, we were very disappointed with... More

Stayed here for one night while trekking the QC. Accomodation was comfortable in one of the chalets. Restaurant food was delicious with plentiful servings. Beer was cold and refreshing after a tiring trek. Furneaux is a pretty setting, nice outlook and accesible by water taxi as well. Staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay here.

We were taken by water taxi to the jetty at Ship Cove, the end of the Queen Charlotte Track in the South Island in New Zealand, and walked on well groomed pathways through verdant forests (15 k.) to Furneaux Lodge. Our luggage had already been delivered there by Cougar Line Water Taxi and deposited in our room. There are several... More

We set out to walk the Queen Charlotte Walkway in the Marlborough Sounds staying in budget accommodation, taking our own breakfasts and lunches, and eating dinner in restaurants and pubs where that option was available. Our second night was spent at Furneaux Lodge. Also see the related reviews of Resolution Bay Cabins, Punga Cove Resort, DeBretts and the restaurant at... More

We were dropped off late at Ship Cove so arrived in at 7pm. Cant say there was a warm friendly welcome and put this down to the fact of most of the workers are backpackers. Quite disappointed with our room as it appeared we paid for the better rooms but these had not had a makeover in a long time... More

Clean, comfy units in between beautiful water and gorgeous Queen Charlotte track. Lovely beds, modern bathrooms, straightforward cooking setup, and shared laundry facilities. Bar and restaurant offering up delicious meals and drinks - the fish!! Water taxi pickup, too.

We stayed in a simple cabin here on route for the Queen Charlotte Sound biking with the family, Dad, Mum and two girls aged 9 and 4! Setting is beautiful and tranquil. You pay extra to be so isolated but it is well worth it. The facilities are very clean and staff friendly and accomodating! Food all made onsite and... More

I didn't stay here but passed through on a truly miserable day while walking 26 km of the Queen Charlotte Track. Our large group arrived cold, wet, hungry, and aware there was a wedding at the lodge that day so thought maybe our arrival might not have been great timing. The staff and ladies who promptly took orders, offered us... More
