The Quintal House was a perfect way to spend a night on Fogo Island. We loved chatting with Nadine and learning the history of the house and Fogo. She was lovely and welcoming to my husband and I and my children. The rooms were clean and charming with local made quilted pillowcases. We enjoyed the self serve breakfast with plenty... More

Nadine was a great representative of the community.Very clean and tidy place, however we did not expect to get up in the morning and make our own breakfast. Nadine was not forthcoming about this previously and we would not have stayed here had we had known this previously. When it is called a Bed and Breakfast it would certainly mean... More

It is unfortunate to learn from your review posted on TripAdvisor that there was some confusion regarding the product we offer to our guests. Quintal House is a great business that I am very proud of and as such I am always forthcoming regarding every aspect of the services we deliver here. Quintal House is not a bed & breakfast,... More

Stayed at quintal house just one night and certainly enjoyed the experience. Even though we experienced a newfoundland heat wave, and there are no air conditioners, Nadine (the owner) had our room cooled down with a good fan. The heritage house and furnishings were lovely, the breakfast offerings were good. The location in Joe Batts Arm was ideal, close to... More

Spent two nights. Would go back without hesitation. One of the best I have ever been. House and rooms are impeccable. Owner Nadine is professional and friendly. Very attentive to her guests. Self serve breakfast and homemade bakeries Miam-Miam. You can use kitchen and made ourselves dinner. Feels like home. Very well located on island. In beautiful Joe Batt's Arm,... More

This was our first trip to Nfld and also to Fogo Island. After reading many of the trip Advisor reviews we chose to book the Quintal House, for a 2 night stay on Fogo Island. We were certainly not disappointed. A beautiful well kept heritage home. Nadine was a great host, and made us feel right at home. Large porch... More

We very much enjoyed our stay here, and loved this immaculately kept heritage house. It has a real charm about it, and was very comfortable. It is centrally located on Fogo Island, in Joe Batt's Arm which was great. I loved that we could make our own breakfast in the morning from the stocked fridge in the kitchen, and Nadine... More

This was our first trip to Fogo Island, well worth the ferry ride. The terrain is unbelievable. We went walking in the evening and captured some great sunsets. Nadine brought us some cod prepared by her mom for supper and had picked some greens from her tiny garden for us...felt very welcoming!! In the sitting room, there were local history... More

My stay was only one night, however, it was an amazing place to lay my head! The accommodations were excellent and I would definitely stay there again. The home was beautifully decorated and Nadine was an excellent host, wish my stay could have been longer.

This was my first trip to Fogo Island, and I was extremely impressed with the Quintal House. I wish I could've spent more time there. The house is charming and beautifully restored. The rooms are very well kept. The assortment of food was great, with fresh vegetables from the garden and fresh picked blueberries, no less. Nadine, the host, was... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Quintal House is a beautifully restored historic community structure whose original construction dates back to the mid 1800’s. The traditional heritage character and simple elegance of the house is accented with antique and modern functional furnishings and local artisan and craft pieces. This 3-story Heritage Guest Home currently has 3 rooms available, all with serene harbour front views. The house has a warm, ageless and charming character, tastefully decorated with a mix of old world charm and new modern comforts. All rooms have comfortable beds and are equipped with private baths for guest convenience. Quintal House offers quiet, calm, peaceful surroundings in a private, relaxing setting that is family friendly with both indoor and outdoor activities for the young and the young at heart. Situated in the heart of this quaint, picturesque fishing community, Quintal House is located next to Nicole’s Cafe, featuring fine traditional dining and cuisine, Wall Works local artisan shop and Growlers homemade ice cream shop. The Guest House is also located within short walking distance to the local boat dock and boat tour operations, Brett House Museum, traditional foot trails, berry picking patches and other community attractions such as coastal walking trails and remote artisan studios. Within short driving distance to beautiful Sandy Cove Beach and the Registered Heritage Community/District of Tilting, an Irish heritage community offering interpretive museums and scenic hiking trails. Located within the Labrador current from the North, Fogo Island’s geography is responsible for the parade of ice floe and icebergs that make their way South in the spring and early summer months along the Island’s North East Coast, allowing great views of these massive icebergs in spring and early summer months. An occasional winter visit to the Island by the great polar bear from the North, as well as frequent encounters in any season with the local caribou herd can be expected. An array of wildlife, waterfowl, plant life and berries can also be found on the Island. Breathtaking ocean shorelines and spectacular sunsets and sunrises are the geography and art lessons to be experienced here. Go beach combing on our shoreline, pick some berries, enjoy some hiking, take a boat tour, but most importantly meet some of our friendly locals who have a knack for ‘spinning a yarn’ (having a chat). Enjoy high quality entertainment, as these same Island locals have a unique musical and theatrical gift that is showcased at many of the on-going music festivals and theatrical events hosted throughout the year. ... more   less
