This is a five-star place that yes, will cost you accordingly. But it is just perfect in its execution.....perfect, perfect, perfect. The rooms are all beautiful (I asked to see them and toured each one of the 5----they are all gorgeous and you will be happy in any of them). All are made of local materials. What I truly loved... Thank you very much for your nice message. It was already a great honor and a great pleasure to receive you, that's even more happiness to know that all the love and attention that was given with the heart, were felt at fair measure. You have a beautiful soul and Fenua Mata'i'oa is made to receive beautiful people like you.... More

We have enjoyed Polynesian beauty and hospitality in many forms over the years but never quite as much as this. After an adventurous week at a minimalist motu in Tikehau, checking into the lush Fenua Mataiao was a sensory experience. "Luxe, calme, et volupte" is what comes to mind. The rooms are bug free and visually alluring (i'd even say... More

First, I should say that my wife and I are from Massachusetts within the U.S. We have flown around to many destinations so I have much to compare with, specifically with big chain hotels. We came here August 9th to August 13th. I also recently went to a few bed and breakfasts in Tahiti. This is NOT a bed and... More

My English is not very good and I apologize.... For the first time, we have a commentary with only 3 stars .... In 14 years of activity, it's nothing but it hurts me tremendously had regard to all the love and dedication that I give to my guests. Especially that your commentary "ambiguous" is related to a problem of money... More

My wife and I stayed for five nights in the Reva Suite in late May. I chose the hotel and my wife was a little apprehensive as she feels more comfortable in places with big brand names, but we are both in love with the place now … it was definitely a nicer, more complete experience than the Wind Spirit... My wife and I stayed for two nights in the Princess Lokelani suite in May. We wanted something special for our 50th wedding anniversary and the Fenua Mataioa did not disappoint. Eileen was a gracious hostess and both Diane and I enjoyed chatting with her and hearing of her experiences in running her place. The breakfast was excellent and ample... More

Moorea was our first longer stop after Tahiti during our honeymoon trip to French Polynesia. We were looking for private romantic place with some local touch and Fenua Mataioa was exactly all that. We planned our trip in the way that we start with small family hotel with nice garden and then in next hotel maybe beach bungalow and then... More

We spent 18 days touring the various islands, and started with 4 days/3 nights on Moorea. When the trip was over, we both felt that Moorea was our absolute favorite. Very laid back - we had a rental car, and spent a lot of our time just driving around and experiencing the island on our own. It didn't hurt at... More

On our previous stay in Moorea, we stayed at the Hilton in an overwater bungalow which was fabulous but this time we wanted to try something a little different than a large resort. After seeing the great reviews on Tripadvisor, we decided on Fenua Mataioa and we certainly weren't disappointed. We arrived on an early morning flight from LAX and... More

It is casual & romantic luxury. The environment is private and privileged. Given the fact that French Polynesia is in the tropical zone, the landscape of this property stayed as natural as possible. From the local plants and trees, even the flowers and fruits come from its garden. The interior design is understated and elegant, yet comfortable. As you enter... More
