Lovely residence originally from the 16th century which has been renovated. It's approximately 7 kilometers from Chinon. The front of the house has a beautiful garden and a fountain. There is a swimming pool in the back of the house. Our room was very large and had a beamed ceiling, a separate sitting area, and a nice size bathroom with... More

We wanted some where different to stay on our way back through France & we have were not disappointed. In a vey peaceful location just north of Chinon this elegant B&B just perfect in the 30degree heat, as it had a pool and beautiful dark cool rooms. Madam Elizabeth does do evening meals on some nights and we were lucky... More

My wife and I booked this B&B through the Alastair Sawday website. The ancient place has clearly been freshly renovated and modernised and our room was both spacious and always kept spotlessly clean. All bathroom facilities worked perfectly. This B&B is most wonderfully quiet - if you are seeking some "P&Q" this is the place for you ! The downside... More

We stayed for one night with our 12 year old daughter. Our connecting rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable and well equipped. Lovely furnishings and paintings in a beamed characterful room made it very special. The rooms overlooked a beautiful courtyard/garden and our daughter enjoyed use of the swimming pool. Despite arriving a little early, our hosts Elizabeth and Christian were... More

Hi We have just come back from a family trip to France. In our visit to the Loire valley we stayed at La Chancellerie, beautiful property and well maintained, with a lovely pool. We stayed in two rooms, with fully equipped kitchen, which allowed us to experience life in a French village. The place is very close to many stunning... More

We stayed there because it looked good and it was calm. But the room was OK but the lady was not very nice. She seemed quite edgy and not very friendly. She seems to be doing it for the money and not very fond of customer service. There is another B&B in Huismes which is miles better, don't take a... More

We would be happy to receive comments, particularly the négative comments directly, and face to face. After 7 years of activity, it is the only one which is négative. What happened ? Why an anonymous comment, with no precise date ? More

Just returned from a two night stay at La Chancellerie during 10 day road trip through France and can highly recommend it for either couples of families with children. The hosts were very accommodating to our party of 5, including two teenage children. Located in Huismes, just outside of Chinon, it's a little difficult to find...so plan your arrival during... More

Stayed at La Chancellerie for 2 nights in Sept 07. We were 3 people and we stayed in "La Maison", which is a two bedroom apartment with a kitchen and living room. The apartment was not as quaint as the other bedrooms but it was very spacious which was a welcome break from much smaller living quarters we had elsewhere... More

We are just back from 2 weeks vacations in France. Being a family of four (children 8 & 11), I found it sometime hard to find a hotel or a B&B. We just had a “coup de coeur” for La Chancellerie in Huismes. If you are looking for a wonderful place where to stay in the Loire Valley, close to... More
