We spent a few days walking in the area, Tintern Abbey a very short walk away. Explored Symonds Yat, got hopelessly lost in the Forest of Dean, walked 45km in 3 days. The Royal George was a happy haven to return to with weary feet & legs. Rooms beautiful, everything we needed. Dog was welcomed too, which was helpful. Lovely... More

The hotel has a spectacular location in The Wye Valley, Tintern Abbey is just down the road, beautiful at sunset. I was checked in by Ruth, she seemed to be the jack of all trades, running reception and the bar, the room (35) had a fantastic view of the gardens and was a lovely spacious room. I went down for... As soon as we walked into the reception area we were met with a very warm welcome. Nicky who I had not met before knew who I was and our whole stay was a treat as all the staff including the owner James all made oyr stay for our anniversary special. The young lady in the restaurant last night was... More

Just 400 yards from Tintern Abbey and with a large car park the hotel has a lovely garden set on the edge of a small stream over the boundary wall. All staff very helpful and quality food provided for breakfasts and evening meals. All staff very helpful.

checked in recently for one night of our Offa's Dyke walk. Great location just up the road from Tintern Abbey, this is a 17th century building with some motel style out the back. While the accommodation might look a little old fashioned as you approach it, ignore that impression. You'll walk into a comfortable room with nice garden views, one... More

You are made very welcome at this hotel and the staff care about your stay and comfort. The hotel is quaint and comfortable, the food is well presented and varied with lots of choices. Drinks are expensive. The room we stayed in was comfortable and although clean there was a slight musty odour in the bathroom. We would visit again... More

I stayed here for one night for a business meeting close by, the Hotel is in a lovely setting and from start to finish the service was very friendly and everything you would expect from this Country. The room whilst slightly old fashion and dated, was large very clean and had great views. The evening meal was first class and... More

This hotel is set in a historic village just a few miles from Chepstow Racecourse. Great holiday or business destination for long or short stay, very relaxing environment. Friendly staff, great beer garden and loads to explore if you enjoy the great outdoors. Its a planned return for me after enjoying the local gift shops and tranquility of the Royal... More

Came to this hotel for a friends wedding reception. I ordered a drink at the bar and the lady behind the bar called Ruth told me that there was no card machine for me to pay for my drink and I had to pay for it at reception. So I went to reception to pay for my drink and they... More
