Stayed one night on a weekend and its very good value for the location its in: bedrooms are ok without having any 'wow' factor: balcony on the front-facing bedrooms are lovely to sit out on and people watch: bed was uncomfortable, mattress hard and very low but we were very tired after a full day out in the Lakes so... We have just come home from Pooley Bridge and the Pooly Bridge Inn. would just like to say THANX to all the helpful happy staff who made us feel so much at home but especially my 2 Beddlington Terriers Bill and Alfie Barnes were treated like little celebrities and even sat and had thier breakfast with us this morning. in a beautiful setting. I love Ullswater and was so chuffed to be able to get a room on a sunday evening. The food is great and the staff chatty and friendly. Has been recently taken over and the bedrooms have been revamped and the bar area is next on the agenda but it has a quaint charm. All rooms... More

We didn't stay, just went for dinner on a whim after walking round the lake. Food was gorgeous, beautifully cooked, good value, perfect really. Staff warm and friendly, keen and smart. Someone can really cook here.

I went for a weekend with my wife and two young daughters. It is a number of years since I used to visit very often, so I was interested to see how it was now. The rooms are lovely, clean and full of character. I have seen a reviewer who complained about the shape of the rooms ! This is... More

Stayed here as part of a walking group. Found the staff very pleasant/ helpful, lovely evening meal but for some reason seemed to struggle to provide breakfast in a timely way for a party of eleven. We were keen to get away early but initially advised breakfast couldn't be any earlier than 9.00 and while an earlier start was agreed... More

We often stay just outside Pooley bridge, and tried here for dinner on Saturday night. When we arrived, most of the tables had reserved signs on with a diners name and time. Most said reserved from 7.30pm or 8.00pm, as it was only 5.45pm when we arrived (we were out with our 2 young children) I asked kindly if we... More

Just had a weekend break at the Pooley Bridge Inn. Great location in the heart of Pooley Bridge. The hotel staff are all friendly and helpful. We stayed in a family room with kingsize beds and bunk beds for the kids. It was clean but just needs a bit of an update considering the amount of money we paid to... More

We have recently returned home after a 2 night stay in the Pooley Bridge Inn. We could reference the excellent location, but that's obvious! A lovely clean room/fantastic food (breakfasts and evening menu)? Yes, if course!! What we would like to record is the welcome and service from the whole team at the Inn. We have stayed in many hotels... More

Good things: 1. Friendly young staff 2. Great beef dinner 3. Pretty location Not-so-good things: 1. Worst room we've ever stayed in -- very grubby and shabby, with a sharply-angled low attic ceiling. Carpet was very dirty and I could put up better curtains, which with my DIY skills is saying something. Bathroom tries to make use of attic space... More
