4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We had a lovely time at this elegant, old fashioned lakeside hotel, but we would have liked a little more atmosphere (I.e. background music in the public areas). There were many positives however; the food was great and the options were excellent. There is a set tasting menu with sommelier-chosen wines, and then an alternative (shorter) tasting menu with more... More

Have visited this hotel for special occasions for many years It used to be five star but has now slipped down to four, in my opinion, not in official ratings. Dinner is still excellent, can't be faulted, but breakfast is now a disappointment, not in the same standard of previous visits. Beautiful scenery and setting. Staff are helpful and friendly... More

The setting can't be faulted an the service was great; very helpful staff would invite you to the terrace and fetch your drinks for you. I found the afternoon tea overpriced, though it was good quality with a decent quantity of food, it's debateable whether £25 per person is good value or not. The shelves in the restaurant were quite... More

My wife and I came here to begin her special birthday celebrations with a top quality breakfast in a romantic setting. The Sharrow Bay managed to spoil this by serving us smoked haddock which smelled awful and was definately "off". My wife started to eat it and being smoked didn't immediately realise how bad it was but as soon as... More

Went for lunch on the return leg of a trip to the Lake District. After hearing fantastic things I'm happy to report it didn't disappoint. Impeccable service, delightful venue, great setting with excellent food.

I feel that I really want to leave a review here after reading some negative feedback. We have booked Sharrow Bay for our May 2015 Wedding because it simply represents what we love about the Lakes and its uniqueness in a traditional way. We normally stay in Boot, Eskdale and went to 7 venues in March this year to find... More

We visited sharrow bay on the 20 July to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. We were looking forward to this visit as we had visited about 4 times in the past and loved it. However this visit was a disappointment. Firstly the welcome was just ok no friendly smile to speak of. We ordered our soft drinks only to be... More

Stayed for one night dinner bed and breakfast, we were in room Marie, it is situated at the gate lodge. The room was lovely views over the fields with the lake and hills in the distance. The evening meal was beautifully cooked and a relaxing evening. My only miner complaint was my husband order fish and as he was served... More
