We stayed here on 26th and 27th September. The room was lovely, the bathroom huge and nothing was too much trouble for the hotel staff. Very friendly, warm ,prompt service. Excellent food. Great cooked breakfast and wonderful evening menu.

We called in here for lunch & to break our long journey. We only wanted a light lunch so we chose omelettes, mine was full of mushrooms & my partners had plenty of salmon in it. Although we only saw the dining room & the lounge the hotel had a peaceful, restful air to it, nice deep sofas to relax... More

This was the first place we stopped on the way to Devon from Australia after 2 years away and we loved the blend of rustic charm, good service, welcoming smiles and cracking pub grub. The ploughman's was worth the wait although I was disappointed not to see Branston and pickled onions on the plate! Great local ale and a lovely... More

I'm afraid we had a similar experience to billaandanffa (July 2013 - 1 year ago). We were also taken to the cottage next door. Building work was being done outside - but not too disruptive. The room smelt damp but there was a good amount of space for family of 4. The room was a bit drab and quite dark... More

Went to a wedding reception very recently and everything went off superbly. The public areas of the hotel are really nice, the bar well stocked and the wedding breakfast was excellent, food first class. We were lucky with the weather so were able to enjoy the garden at the rear of the hotel which enhanced the experience. We were also... More

We stopped here for lunch on our way to Devon. The large garden to the rear is beautiful with a lovely view. The food is excellent and staff very helpful and friendly. Would particularly like to thank John who looked after us. A week after we returned home I discovered that I had lost my credit card. Phoned the hotel and... More

My and my girlfiend stopped by here for a bite to eat on the way to Cornwall. The staff were welcoming, but that's about were the pleasentries stopped. We were handed a menu, which was very limited, but decided to order a chicken cesear salad, priced at £7.99 for a starter, but asked if we could have it as a... More

We stayed overnight at this hotel en route to Cornwall. What a wonderful and delightful place. Staff were amongst the friendliest, courteous And most helpful we had ever encountered. Booked, via www.booking.com at a good price considering. Room was lovely, little touches mattered ie chocolate and with bottles of water as well as tea and coffee. Staff were wonderful, couldn't do... I had another stay here at the Monkton Court (last one was a year ago) and the bed was still amazingly comfortable! I stayed in room 3 with a wonderful 4 poster bed & the biggest bathroom I have ever seen! The bath was luxurious! The bed was so comfortable & I slept really well. The breakfast was lovely, and...
