During a drive round the coast we stopped by this old coaching inn for a light lunch. The dining room was small but very pleasant with an open fire and old photos of the inn in the past. The menu was limited so my wife opted for an egg sandwich and I had the cullen skink. My wife's lunch was... More

My sister and I spent a great three days staying at the Lagg Hotel. We thought the price of our stay was very good. We ate in the hotel on two evenings and the food was enjoyable and of a good standard. The atmosphere was the best. The owners made it great for us, they had log fires burning and... More

We stayed here 3 nights for a long weekend escape without the kids, and it was absolute bliss. Peace, quiet and solitude in bucketloads, but at the same time keen and attentive staff. The quality of the food was excellent morning, noon and night, and when we asked for a special request ( cheeseboard and a bottle of pinot served... More

Stayed here with a mate when we were walking the Arran Coastal Way. We were the first guests for the season and were met by the owner who was brilliant. he has a real hands on approach which is admirable. It's an old coaching inn with loads and loads of character. Log fires and a lovely setting. Food at night... More

Located in a very quiet hamlet close to the coast with peaceful and attractive lawned gardens beside a babbling brook. We called in for a dinner and subsequently a lunch partly on the basis of a friendly tip of the cap from a gentleman, who we summised correctly to be the owner, as he walked across the hotel garden and... This is an old fashioned hotel, fires in the public rooms , don't expect shiny bling, comfortable. The staff/owner are very good , friendly, attentive and this makes such difference. the food was very good but took ages and with 2 kids as part of our party of 10, that was a drawback.Rooms again old-fashioned, very clean, bed bit hard and... This place is spotless and unbelievably tidy (and I am a bit OCD about cleanliness!) We had late afternoon tea and home made shortbread (baked by the proprietors mother) it was delicious. If you are in the area, stop off, don't just drive past.

What a superb venue in a gorgeous location. What makes this so perfect for "your" wedding day is the unique character and charm of the place. It dates back to 1791 and if you book all 12 rooms, you have the place to yourself. It's quaint, cosy and feels like you're in a family home. It's not trying to compete... More
