These cottages are on the same estate as the Elephant House Hotel. There are six spacious cottages, perfectly locates only 10 minutes away from Addo Elephant Park. The cottages all have a veranda, can sleep up to four people and have an enormous bath room. Excellent dining possibilities at the Elephant House and a good breakfast with an enthusiastic staff... The Elephant House, less than 10 minutes drive from the main entrance to Addo Elephant National Park, is a lovely place to base yourself for game drives and/or relaxation 'do nothing at all'. The property is very pretty with lovely gardens and a beautiful pool, lots of places to sit out of the sun with comfortable sofas but still airy... More

The grounds of the hotel are very nice and the location is about fifteen minutes from the Addo Elephant Park. The grounds are very nice. The hotel organizes game drives in the morning and evening. However, there are no televisions and fridges even in the most expensive rooms. They were not serving dinner the night I was there and the... More

Elephant House came on the back of us having stayed at some absolute fantastic hotels during our honeymoon, so it did have a tough act to follow, but our room in the main house was extremely spacious, if fairly simple. We had a few service hiccups to start with ... the worst being that we were accidentally locked out of... More

We spent 4 days with the family at the Elephant House and it surpassed all expectations. Great setting, polite and courteous staff and delicious food. What a perfect position to get out to game view, river paddling (with Crisscross Adventures), head into the mountains and even just relax in very " Hemingway" comfort (more comfy sofa's than we had nights... This was such a disappointment to us all and certainly did not compare favourably to other less expensive guest houses in South Africa. The airconditioning in our room was not working and the shower water did not drain away due to a blocked drain. We had to walk over the road to the bistro for dinner, all four of us... More

We really enjoyed our two night stay at Elephant House. We were in a room off the bar area and it was very quiet and relaxing. The room was comfy and clean and spacious. We did alert staff that two of our lights didn't work and this was never fixed, however other than that the staff were friendly and helpful.... More

We stayed at the Elephant House for 2 nights in May. We had a large comfortable room with separate sitting area. Staff were very friendly and offered several tour options for our stay. We felt breakfast was poor compared to all the other guest houses we had stayed in during our time in South Africa, however the evening meal which... More

We recently spent 2 nights at the Elephant House and had a wonderful experience. On arrival the staff were very friendly. They provided us with information regarding the self drives around Addo Elephant Park and booked a tour at a nearby private game reserve for us. We had rooms in the main house which were large, clean and quiet. The... More

This was a gem of a place - it has an understated luxury - very colonial. Staff friendly especially young student (forget his name). We went on a game drive - saw lots of elephants but sadly not much else - i think it was too hot. They also offer a trip to a township with a local guide -... More
