We recently stayed here with a 3 year old and a 21 week baby!! The drive up to the lodge is on a dirt road like no other! Wow! Steep, potholes and the undercarriage of our car kept on scraping!! But once we arrived at Camp Figtree, the wonderful view and hospitality soon made up for the interesting drive!! Gift... More

This is an incredible place. Rooms - or rather tin chalets on stilts - hovver over what looks like rain forest and the bird song is extraordinary. Staff are lovely (especially our waiter Gift) but these was a feeling of everyone needing to be managed rather better than seemed to be the case. There was very little information about the... More

The location of this place is mind-blowing, and an entertaining half-hour drive from Addo Elephant Park. We found the staff to be very friendly and keen to please (especially Gift, who was charming), and the food was consistently superb and great value (although dinner is additional to the room tariff, which isn’t particularly clear on booking), as was the wine... Camp Figtree truly is a gem worth discovering. The dirt road up the mountain was in an excellent condition and this means a fairly comfortable dive to get there. The staff's friendliness and willingness to help is out of this world. Big smiles and helping hands at every turn. The lodge has stunning views of the mountain and valley right... More

Highlight of trip, peaceful place. Our room (6) was incredibly spacious, breakfast and dinner delightful, sleek pool great eating areas. I can see how odd folk could find fault with the service. I actually found each and every member of staff to be 100% welcoming and friendly, you did really have to ask for most things, but when you did,... More

This is an idyllic remote way to experience Addo - hard to get to but worth the view and experience. The staff is excellent , food delicious and the ranger Mike is a fount of information about the natural environment. It is the best combination of comfort and luxury, peaceful and romantic but not over the top. More

This is your place to stay, if you are looking for a hotel which is off the beaten track, but provides excellent service. And the big bonus: the breathtaking views! We stayed at one of the lower cottages (room 6 or 7); these are a real bonus: big rooms, with views even more breathtaking, in the whole room; while sitting... More

To get it out of the way; yes it is 10km or so up a fairly bumpy dirt road and then 2km (ish) along a very bumpy dirt drive. We were pleased to have a station wagon for the last bit. It's 30 minutes from Figtree's car park to the gate at Addo Park. However, the tariff reflects the slightly... More

You are welcomed by very warm friendly staff who immediately make you feel relaxed. The accommodation was far beyond expectation and very comfortable. Camp Figtree commands spectacular views of the Zuurberg Mountains. The service throughout our stay was outstanding as was the quality of the food. One night was not enough and we highly recommend this lodge for a relaxing... More
