Very nice and relaxing place. Staff is friendly and helpful. Most of all John, the owner. It is close to the Addo Elephant Park. Tours are offered. Has a pub 100m from the hostel. All together I had a great time.

family run establishment with plenty of personalized rustic charm South African style brimming with urban professionals, families, backpackers and animal lovers. helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating staff, great location and tours to Addo Park. highly recommend the Two Park Tour, which takes you to the Cradock Mountain Zebra National Park, not quite as popular as as Addo, but definitely worth the... We stayed at Orange Elephant for several nights while working on a diversity survey around the Addo area. This is NOT your run-of-the-mill backpacker's place: it is charming and has a great atmosphere and energy! The rooms are all very clean and nicely-decorated, and there are lots of fellow travelers to meet and greet. Its proximity to Addo Elephant National... More

Stayed here for one night primarily due to visiting the addo national park; however we thoroughly enjoyed our stay the rooms were large, clean and had a really homely look to them. Plus the pub attached was not expensive and their pizzas turned out to be sublime! Nice and helpful staff too ! Luca

We wanted to find a way to visit Addo Elephant Park without a car and Orange Elephant provided the perfect solution! We wrote to Erika to inquire about how to organize our visit and in an exchange of messages, she enabled us to create just the safari we wanted. She and Conrad picked us up in Port Elizabeth and drove... More

Stayed two nights mainly to see the addo elephant park which is well worth a visit. The hostel is basic, we stayed in a double room which was huge and decorated very nicely but quite damp. The kitchens small and the breakfast very minimal, it's difficult to eat if more than 4 people are staying. There's a pub attached which... More

My wife and I stayed there while visiting Addo National Park. Our stay was pleasant and what we expected. The staff were very friendly and honest and the guide to our safari was very knowledgable. Super Saturday Night Dinner! The property was well kept and it felt more like staying at a friend's house than at a backpacker which for... More

My wife and I stayed here a few weeks ago and had a great time. Friendly staff who were so welcoming. I misplaced my phone and John, the owner, went out his way to help me find it, even searching my vehicle with me. Orange Elephant is ideally situated next to Addo Elephant park and their staff are all fanatic... More
