I don't normally write reviews, in fact this is my first on trip advisor. I'm writing this as my experience here, was so much more positive than the other reviews suggest. There are only really 2 backpacker resorts on Rarotonga, and this is by far the best. For starters, it is right on the beach on the Western side so... More

Needs desperately a deep clean and renovation. I've been staying in many backpackers and budget accommodations throughout my travels in the past but never had I such an unpleasant feeling throughout my stay. Everything from appliances to the interior is either pretty worn down or doesn't work and the place looks partly more like a dump than accommodation. Cleaning is... More

We had booked two of the beach houses for 6 of us. #1&2 There was a real difference between both of them. #1 is more modern and with better appliances. #2 had a rotting sink, dirty old grill oven, (#2 had a microwave) dirty shower curtain, (#2 had a shower door). Pillows in both were gross, lucky I bought my... More

We stayed in a double room (Room 7) for two weeks and loved this packpacker accommodation. The facilities are clean, well stocked and there is plenty of hot water and kitchen/fridge space for all guests. The hosts are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are light and airy, though we stayed in Room 7 which is known as a... More

We stayed a couple of nights in the beach side hut. The hut was ok value for money (not expensive at an otherwise quite expensive island). A mozzie net would have been nice and a wall fan which cord would actually reach the electricity outlet would have been appreciated..... The main building however felt a bit dodgy. The common area... Staff were friendly but not really around much, we stayed for 7 nights in a twin room with a bathroom, paid $25 pppn which is cheap considering the island is very expensive on a whole, but it really was very under loved and unclean, not kych going on, says on website different activities each day but nothing happening, everything on... We stayed here for 1 week in January. I think for the price($50p.n) I was expecting a little more. However, the island as a whole is pretty expensive. Originally we had a private double room inside the main building. This was very basic and literally just a room -no furniture at all. We moved rooms after the first night and... More

We really enjoyed our stay at Rarotonga Backpackers. We felt the garden bungalows to be fairly priced for the island, and more than adequate for our needs. The kettle, toaster and fridge with ice compartment in the room were useful touches - perfect for serving up an iced sunset drink with the bargain duty free rum we'd picked up in... More

We stayed for a couple of nights in a double room and felt that this place is a bit of a rip-off. At $50NZD (25 p/p) it's too much for what it is. The room was a bit worse for wear and had water leaking everywhere. The whole place is kind of similar. Considering it's a backpacker place, I'm not... More

We stayed in a garden bungalow which was pretty good value for our money. It seemed a bit dated but had a comfy enough bed, lots of space, bathroom and little kitchen area. Patio was nice to sit on and we had a TV with DVD player and we had brought some TV series so that was good. Snorkel equipment... More
