We booked in for a bbq night. There were five of us and the cost was $30 a head, which was not bad. My feelings are mixed about the place. The setting was lovely, the bar was informal and very relaxing. If you were thinking that you were coming to have a bbq with meat then don't come, cos we are... More

These beachside apartments are in a truly wonderful location, all we needed! 30 paces to the beautiful beach and just 10 more into the sea! We were able to make full use of snorkelling (saw 30+ varieties of tropical fish!!), kayaks and even the paddle boards! The proprietors are really friendly, Jim has a great sense of humour and tells... More

As a local it's not often I get to stay in one of the many lovely properties around Rarotonga, so it was a wonderful surprise that we were able to spend the weekend at this great little spot. Jim and Jan are awesome hosts and friends and it's quite a treat to watch Jim create a warm, fun and family... More

Alright, it's taken a full year to write this review- I blame Jim (owner and chief abuser of the Ar'o'a Beachside Inn), as well as the entire staff of the place, for they truly define the meaning of "island time". A vacation is meant to serve as a getaway from the drudgery of everyday life- not to be another form... More

Similar to another guest we were not expected when we arrived off our flight from Aitutaki. Although my booking voucher had the correct date, apparently this information was not conveyed to Aro'a. Regardless, after a quick phone call by a local, Jim the owner showed up in his pick-up and took us on tour, with a stop at the Wigmore's... More

Fun, fun and a but more fun. Inexpensive and funky. Don't go thinking this is a 5 star restaurant. Simple and rustic with great value for money. We went on the $12 night. A simple choice of about 6 dishes each for $12.drinks at about $6 each. Beach front and views that are second to none. Jim the owner... Yes... More

We did not have the best start as we were forgotten at the airport from our Aitutaki arrival but after an hour and three phone calls to the hotel Jim arrived to pick us up in his ute and I sat in the back with the groceries and the Christmas wine supply! We loved this spot and were so glad... More

travelled June 2008 . I chose the Aroa over some of the flashier stays available on Raro due to its better than basic amenities and value as I was recuperating from surgery and needed a well earned break from work. I arrived late ( around 2am ) and was advised by the driver exactly where the unit was and how... More

It was clear the highlight of a 7 week trip to Shanghai, New Zealand, Cook Island and Singapore. We have booked the beachside deluxe, upper floor. After arrival around midnight, the first impression with the roaring waves at the balkony were overwhelming. Breakfast at the beach, the sunset, the BBQ, snorkelling, swimming, relaxing, dreaming,.... The hosts are great, with a... More

tis a beautiful place to stay. snorkelling is fantastic!! most of the staff and especially steph were very pleasant and helpful with steph going above and beyond the call of duty. there was unfortunately one staff member who on our last day stole our duty free liquor. this in itself was horrid but made worse by the extremely rude and...
