The best thing about Aro'a is its location for swimming and snorkelling. You can swim at any tide and the snorkelling straight out from the resort is as good as it gets in Raro. It is also on the sheltered side of the island so gets less of the prevailing wind. The rooms are nice and spacious, quite dated but... More

This is a simple package of down to earth accommodation, meals, bar and lagoon. On the surface it looks a bit out of date, but it has Something no resort accommodation can give, which is CHARACTER. It is easy to imagine you have washed up on Gillian's island here..perfect for snorkelling (better than the snorkelling trip I did). The bar... More

This is my first trip to Rarotonga. I wanted somewhere quiet where I could eat, sleep, swim, drink cocktails and after 9 days, numerous cocktails and 13 books I have to say "Mission accomplished" I was fortunate (and most grateful) to have been upgraded to a Beachside Deluxe. That seems to be something that happens to other people so I... More

Returned a couple of weeks back well rested after our stay at Aro'a. A fabulous resort on one of the best bits of beach on the island. We loved the swimming here and great snorkeling right off the beach. Jim and Jan and all the staff are welcoming, helpful and always have a smile. Nothing beats eating breakfast by the... More

From the time we walked into our unit we felt relaxed and as it was at night awakening in the morning was with happiness and amazement to see how close we were to the beach surrounded by beautiful gardens and trees. We went to have breakfast at the Shipwreck Bar and were greeted by Jim who made us welcome and... More

Stayed at the Aro'a with friends for a wedding late 2013, and certainly hope to be back. Wonderful relaxing little piece of earth where you can certainly hide away for a few days of bliss. Steph behind the bar looked after us well and there can be no better place from which to watch the sun go down. Private and... More

Aro'a is a peaceful little haven on the side of the island protected from prevailing winds. Rooms were very clean. Lovely thick white fluffy towels every day. Only has two hot plates and microwave for cooking but a full size fridge. Our unit was spacious and had a large balcony to appreciate the beautiful views. Jim, Jan and the staff... More

This place is perfect, we have just got back to Nelson and missing the place already. Talking about our next trip to Rarotonga and we would be back in a shot to stay here again. Jim and Jan are perfect hosts, so friendly and helpful, the girls that work there are lovely so happy always laughing! We loved it private... More

This was our second visit to this resort having been here 2 years ago. We never normally go back to the same place but the Aro'a Beachside is an exception. Jim, Jan and all the staff here were very welcoming and really looked after us during our stay. The Shipwreck Bar is (officially) one of the best on the planet... More
