We recently had two nights at the historic Fjordstue Hotell. I wish I were back there right now! What a wonderful location to see the area, relax and have outstanding service. First, I need to say now much I appreciated Bard (the owner) and his patience with our numerous questions, changes and last minute travel drama. He was always very... More

We wandered into the restaurant at 9:00pm and the staff willing accommodated us even though their set dinner time had passed. The food was incredible - a three course meal with coffee and tea included. We loved it so much we went back the next night and wished we had stayed here.

The location of this historic inn makes a stop worth the small room and the dated furniture. The owner gave us a charming history and orientation to the fjord, the hotel and the village it is located in. Little by little he is addressing renovations while keeping the historic character of the hotel. Located less than a kilometer from the... More

We stayed here one night driving from Bergen. On the way here we suggest taking a detour along the Gaularfjellet, one of the many panoramic routes of Norway. Can be taken at Sandee, a right turn on 610 takes you to route 13 (Gaularfjellet). The Fjordstue is a small white wooden building right over the fjord (an arm of the... More

My husband and I booked this location as a stopover and I'm so glad we did. The hotel is located immediately on a fjord. The view is beautiful without touristy crowds. We rented kayaks and launched right from the hotel. It was an amazing experience and when we went we were the ONLY ones on the water in the beautiful... More

Perfectly located overlooking the fjord, the hotel is a well maintained old house. Rooms were big enough for the two of us, clean but not very quiet (there is a sign on the hallway wall suggesting to ask for earplugs at the reception because in high season noise between rooms shall be a problem). We had a wonderful 3-course dinner... More

Built in the 1930's as guest house with private bathrooms added in 1980's and that is about it. Timber throughout, mostly painted white, results in a reasonable amount of 'sound sharing' for which earplugs are helpful. Fjord facing rooms are splendid but small. Seating area OK to store luggage. Nothing in add ons here - no TV, wifi free but... More

Wife and I took a boat ride to Fjaerland, a sweet little town famous for its' book stores. We were hungry and landed on the porch of this hotel. Ordered a salad. It was fabulous. The owner visited with us. A fine gentleman. I would stay at this hotel with no reservations. See my photographs

From the moment you arrive, you feel welcomed into the cosy hotel, situated right on the fjord! The owner Bard kindly welcomed U.S. and. steered us in the right direction for all the amazing things to do that the area around Fjaerland has to offer. THE FOOD!!!! There is not much more to say other than fantastic!!!!!!! The combinations, the... More

It takes a little effort to get here, but once here you don't want to leave! This is just what I imagined a perfect little white norwegian fjordside hotel would look like. Very friendly staff and owner, romantic room and great food. The views over the fjord are spectacular. You simpla have to love this place!
