The location on the water is very scenic, both from our room and from the large common area with terrace. Dinner (not included) was the best we had during our 2-week stay in Scandinavia. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed in our room was comfortable. There was some noise from the floor above which is to be... More

We stayed in the hotel for one night. The stuff is very kind and smily. I recomand to order rooms with fjord's view and to eat dinner in the hotel-it made by a real cheff. Breakfest is also very good. If you travel with youg kids, don't miss the Gleicer museum nearby.

As we arrived back at the Fjaerland Fjordstue after a day of hiking, my companion noted that returning was like coming home at the end of the day. We settled in to the Fjordstue for four days and found it to be a wonderful base for exploring the surrounding area. The setting is breathtaking with incredible views from the rooms,... More

The staff needs training how to deal with guests as friendliness was below expectations and not quite service minded. Rooms are very basic, more like a youth hostel. Restaurant closes at 20.00 in the evening! Food is very pricy for Norway standards, probably there are no alternative dinner locations. I was told there was no other hotel/restaurant open, but when... More

Without a doubt, the Fjærland Fjordstue Hotel was our best stay during our Norway trip that lasted for about 9 days. After driving through the Norwegian countryside, the Fjaerland is a welcome site in Mundal right on the lake, with a deck that provides an absolutely breathtaking view. The breakfast in the morning was also wonderful, with several tables of... More

The location of this hotel is amazing, right on a small fjord in a tiny village of only 200 people. The scenery is amazing and the crowds non-existant. The hotel cooks local produce, brews its own beer from local water and junipers, and the staff are friendly to a fault. All in all this was our favourite place to stay... More

This is not the hotel where you are watching the CNN. Because here you will not find any TV - at all. What you will find is a hotel, which more or less located on the fjord. A combination of see-water and water from the glacier makes a green colored water. You can sit on the terrace and watch the... More

This is a charming little hotel by the beautiful Fjærland fjord, one of the arms of the Sognefjord. The owner Bård is enthusiastic and welcoming, and gathers the guests interested before dinner for a little history lesson about Fjærland. He has created his own beer, which is wonderful to enjoy while sitting at the terrace overlooking the fjord, watching porpoises... More

In truth this hotel isn't up to much. The rooms are small with spartan furnishings. The dining room and lounge are equally austere, being filled with the kind if furniture you'd expect to see in a second hand store - though there is a piano and a 1970s music centre along with some classic vinyl from the same era (including... We were only able to stay one night here - we found it comfortable and peaceful. There are splendid views of the fjord and glacier and Bard the proprietor is very welcoming and a mine of information. There is no TV or WiFi (hooray!) but there's a fine selection of books and vinyl records (including most of the Pink Floyd... More
