We chose this B&B for it's proximity to The Kauri Museum but got so much more - the building and rooms were full of character, artistically decorated with many home comforts rarely seen in a B&B. Breakfast on the deck was really special, everything home made and delicious. Deb is a wonderful host and made our entire stay memorable and... More

Very tidy, nicely appointed rooms with options for singles and doubles. Beautiful breakfast (thanks Deb!) which was all superbly home-made, right down to the condiments. Friendly, charming and familiar with numerous unexpected luxuries,. Certainly a great location for basing an adventure throughout Northland's diverse Kaipara region.

We stayed at this B&B on the recommendation of the owners of the Morepork Riverside Lodge in Paihia, as we wanted to be near the Kauri Museum on our way back to Auckland. Deb and Kevin, the owners, were warm and friendly; Deb even made cake for our arrival. We were two couples and had two rooms, each with separate... More

We had a great time staying with at the Old post office. The building and rooms had lots of character, lovely colors, and lots of pretty, artistic touches. Deb was a delightful host, who gave us some great ideas for things to do in the local area. Breakfast was served on the deck, with a fantastic array of homemade preserves,... More

It was good fun staying with English literature teacher, Deb at her charming old post office, only a few kms away from the Kauri museum, one of the best in NZ. Although our double room was not very large, this was more than compensated for by having its own sitting room next door, & a large private hall/lobby area. Sadly... More

Thank you and am so glad you enjoyed your stay. I have just planted some more natives and pruned the karaka a little as the wood pigeons' flight path was over the clothes line! Take care and thanks again. More

We recently had the chance to experience the delightful and elegant hospitality of Deb and the Old Post Office for a special family occasion. The historic building oozed a genteel atmosphere in which we had the most scrumptious fare in the relaxing surrounds of the period cottage. We laughed and giggled throughout the meal and all generations present, loved it.... More

The last time my visit to N.Z. was made especially memorable by my stay in the Old Post Office Guest House in Paparoa. An historical building made almost completely of kauri, which of course made a visit to the Kauri Museum a must. Sitting in the garden watching the native birds for which N.Z. is justly famous and listening to... More

My interest was triggered when I saw The Old Post Office featured in the NZ Herald July 2012 as one of a number of quirky places to stay. It was to be a perfect location for a 2 night stay in April to pursue my interests in geology and history of the Kaipara district. Deb and Kev were ideal hosts,... More

Thank you for your lovely comments. I really enjoy fossicking for fossils, rocks etc too. Will look forward to your next visit. I may have found some other interesting places to explore by then. The remnants of the old kauri dam in sterling Rd will be one! I finally found it last week. More
