This was our very first family camping and we choose the 4th of July weekend to do it. We reserved 6 months in advance and I recommend to do the same as the campground fills up really quickly. First of all, very easy to reserve online, you can see all the features of the site (shade, electricity, size), you can... More

We stayed in loop f which is considered a walk in site but it's really close to your assigned parking space and bathrooms. I would stay in loop F again. Perfectly clean, a sandy place for the tent and a clean metal box for food storage. You are seconds from the visitor center and shuttle. We felt very safe here... More

One of the nice campgrounds we've visited during our 3 week trip through the south west of the states. The sites are large enough, well situated and very nice and clean restrooms. The river serves as a nice place to cool of after a day of (serious) hiking.

Great campground set in the middle of amazing scenery. There are no showers, but the bathrooms were nice and clean. At each bathroom there were sinks to wash dishes which made for easy clean up after meals and conversation with fellow campers from around the world. Our campsite was in Loop D site 11. This was a large site with... More

We stayed for two nights at the end of May. The campground is well laid out and very convenient to the shuttle system for exploring the rest of the park. We enjoyed the hosted ranger programs in the evening. We also walked the short distance from the campground to the Watchman Trail - it was a beautiful and moderate hike... More

1- we managed to get a spot for the night late in the afternoon- it's worth checking, and visiting the visitor centre at the same time 2. We were put on a patch for late arrivals I think 3. Do the watchman hike as a good warm up 4. Go for a dip in the river! Walk up stream a... More

This is the first camping we ever did and we were very pleased with this first choice of ours. We had a summer tent actually and for this reason we felt it during the night when the temperatures were around 40F and windy. Luckily we came prepared. The camground is very well maintained, the toilets are very clean, there is... More

Limited facilities so don't expect to take a shower (I guess who cares, you're camping!). I must admit we were " glamping" in our motor home and took our showers everyday, sorry that almost sounded like gloating. Great access to the shuttles and hiking trails, we did the Watchman Trail right out of the campground. Didn't need the tow car... More

There isn't a whole lot of vegetation to divide sites, but the park was working to grow some. Some deer wandered through the campground, which was neat, except parents were letting their kids chase the deer around so that they could pet them. A staff member came by, walking their dog, after awhile and told the kids not to get... More

This will be a loooong review so brace yourselves! ! From CO, we took i70W to 89 south which is what I highly recommend coming from the east. Distance is significantly shorter (by 27mi) while it only adds 30 min to your drive as opposed to taking 15 south. By going this way, you will experience a breathtaking view on... More
