They use the term "resort" rather loosely. Amenities did include a restaurant, ice machines (although the one nearest our unit was always empty) soft drink machines and a kid's playground. It was quiet and the view from our unit was lovely. The rooms are in buildings you would expect at summer camp and equal to any we have stayed in... More

Skyland is situated in a spectacular location. However, the resort has many rooms with no view. I.e. looking in to the jungle with not even large windows. Some others look in to the lawn. The website does not clearly specify what type of view you get with your room. I suggest that you call the resort to book your room... More

We enjoyed a fantastic vacation at Shenandoah National Park. Skyline Drive offers breathtaking views as you wind your way up into the mountains, where Skyland Resort is neatly nestled among the trees and hills. On our first day, we saw many deer, chipmunks, other wildlife including a black bear no more than 30 feet away. We went on numerous hikes,... More

This review is written because my large group of 50 was treated very poorly at the restaurant. (We were just going through the park so we didn't stay at the resort.) My group made a reservation well in advance, but we adjusted our arrival time for a later time. The restaurant knew to expect us for a late lunch around... More

We stayed in Winchester building room 188, I can highly recommend this room for the view. It was amazing to sit on the porch just looking at the scenery, thunderstorms and sunsets. The room itself is basic, no tv, fridge or air con. The mountain cools at night so it isn't too hot to sleep, and who needs a tv... More

After seeing previous reviews, I was skeptical about taking my grandson to Skyland Resort. We visited the resort 4 years ago when it was under different management and were concerned about the new managers. On arrival, we were greeted immediately and the staff person was pleasant and knowledgeable. The room was as I remembered, wood paneling, thin walls, old accessories.... More

As a frequent National Park visitor...we've been to many, must say that Shenandoah NP in Virginia is among the dullest. While the scenary on the Skyline Drive is exquisite, that's about all there is to do unless you are a serious camper or hiker The Skyland Resort- typical of the NP lodges, is pedestrian at best ( and accordingly priced).... We stayed here after Big Meadow Lodge lost our reservation and relocated us here. From the outside, the cabins do not look promising. However, once inside, we found clean and comfortable rooms. They are not posh, but are quite adequate--after all, we were there to see the nature outdoors rather than spend our time indoors. I would return. We were... More

The view from the lodge looking over the Shenandoah Valley is priceless and changes every 10 minutes. The lodge has many different types of rooms. We stayed in the Laurel building this trip. Ok room....plumbing that makes a lot of noise....but room access is easy from the parking. We saw a deer and her one week old fawn 60 feet... More

Our family of five enjoyed staying in this cute cabin right located in Shenandoah National Park on Skyland Dr. If you enter on Hwy 211, you go south until just a little past mile marker 41. Go to the main office and they will give your keys. We stayed in a cabin with two queen beds and one twin bed... More
