This is a tired, old resort in the park. Our initial reservation was a cabin that proved unacceptable: It was a one-room musty place in a duplex cottage. We moved (allergies) and the upgraded room was in "Appledore." The view of the Shenandoah Valley was special. We did not sleep well: thin walls, neighbors with little kids and a TV.... More

Excellent, our first time. Views are amazing, accommodations were great for the price. Better than expected. The restaurant, dinner and breakfast were the best meals we had during our entire two week vacation - honest food at a great price. We stayed in # 89 - could use bathroom update and a tree blocked the view but still very nice.... More

The food was fantastic. I would recommend the trout, it was fantastic along with a black berry cobbler for dessert. The setting was amazing. I would recommend asking for one of the newly upgraded rooms.

We chose a lodge room with a lovely view over the valley and it was quite spacious with a nice deck. The soundproofing could be improved. It is an older facility and one accepts that it has a old world rustic feel about it.

The setting is gorgeous. The drive to the resort stunning! I wanted to fall in love with it all, but in the end, I was slapped in the face. Not really angry as much as disappointed beyond description. How sad is that! I made the "mistake" of getting the best room I could, the Pinnacle building. The rooms were re-done,... More

Skyland Resort is like stepping back into time to the 1930s mountain lodge. We loved our room, and loved the views. Our room had a great view of Luray in the valley. The room was extremely clean, and the bathroom was newly remodeled, modern, comfortable, & clean. I read some previous reviews about bugs being a problem. It is the... More

It is always a delight to go to the mountains. It is cool, quiet, lovely. and the stars are spectacular. We hiked to Stoney Man overlook, enjoyed the blackberry sundae, and saw deer, rabbit, chipmonk, and one bear by the road.

The nature stuff was great, The rooms and restaurant are second rate. The hikes available took us to waterfalls and great overlooks. A large meadow is close by with many wild flowers. See bears is exciting.

Booked and checked into room at Skyland Resort in building used for people with pets. Upon entering room was overpowering strong nose burning smell of bleach. This is suppose to be a "green resort". Bleach used to clean or hide odor of something. Sure enough upon walking further into room we found dog hair all over floor and chairs. Opened... More

This is the third time we have stayed at Skyland in as many years. We do an annual trip to Shenandoah each year and we have stayed at both Big Meadows and Skyland. Last year a new concessionaire, DNC took over from Aramark and our last trip was bad due to the rocky transition. This year things were much improved... More
