Our stay here at Skyland Resort was great. The location is scenic and has a very beautiful view of the valley below. Our rooms were rustic, with no A/C or TV, but that was not a problem for us, as we enjoyed the entertainment in the Mountain Taproom, and coming in April, it was already cold anyway. Unlike some, we... More

We go to Skyland about once or twice a year just to escape and rejuvenate. The rooms are more rustic but clean. The best part is that the resort is one of two on top of the mountain. Nothing else is around so plan on hiking and relaxing. Also, plan on going without internet during your stay. I love it... More

Family oriented place, well maintained, no frills. I like the last part because this gives you more freedom just to be yourself. There is a large dining call with very large windows that offer plentiful view of the mountains. Given that, you are ready to forgive crappy food (did you expect anything else up here?). Please do yourself a favor... More

We had a great Spring Break here at the lodge with our dog. We've been to the park for plenty of summer visits, mostly camping, but never stayed at Skyland. Even though things hadn't started greening up yet, the park was amazing. Best of all, it's not crowded this early in the season. Oops, maybe I shouldn't have let that... More

We have been going to Skyland for a number of years, and here's what we found this past weekend: they are upgrading the buildings where the rooms are located by replacing roofing, and upgrading and changing around the lobby area of the dining building. But the biggest improvement that we experienced was to be found in the main dining room.... More

My husband, our teen son and I rented a cabin that's part of the Skyland Lodge Resort complex in Shenandoah National Park in October 2013. The cabin was located in the Big Meadows part of the park. It had a good-sized bedroom with a comfortable queen bed, and a sitting room with a fold-out couch and a gorgeous stone fireplace.... More

My friend and I stayed here for 1 night and would never go back in the winter - I'm sure the summer is very nice, however.... There was a large gap between the door leading to the outside and the wind that was coming through that door was like a fan.. We tried to get the heat to work, but... More

It felt good to get away over the Thanksgiving weekend. Some ice and snow in the Shenandoah mountains didn't stop us. Our room was rustic and cozy with a gorgeous view of the mountains. The food leaves something to be desired. Thanksgiving buffet dinner was too gourmet. They need to go back to the basics. Food on the breakfast buffet... More

I read a number of reviews here trying to figure out if I really wanted to go. Some reviews seemed quite negative. Others repeatedly used the term "rustic." What does that mean? I'll give you all the details. The lodge is part of the national park system which, with a few exceptions, doesn't include deluxe hotels. The lodges/buildings at Skyland... More
