We stayed in the glass house and were thrilled at the location and view. The cabin was modern (electricity, plumbing, kitchen) and had a wood stove in the main room for heating. The hiking was great around the cabin and at Elizabeth Furnace Campground. The screen room overlooking the vista was very useful and where we spent our evenings. Tips... More

We just got back from our first overnight PATC cabin rental and we LOVED it!! We stayed at Corbin Cabin which is 1.5 miles from the parking area. That may not sound like much, but most of the hike was all downhill and with 20 lb packs on our back, each step had to be carefully placed as not to... More

We stayed at Pocosin cabin for 5 nights. It worked for us because although it was rustic, and definitely gave us an opportunity to "rough it", it was not so far away, that we could get fresh water when we ran out. If you are into truly rustic accommodations, the PATC cabins are great. The Pocosin cabin is less than a 5 minute walk from the parking area and right on the Appalachian trail and the trail to the Upper Pocosin Mission ruins. They have a wood burning stove, but it is much quicker to cook something over the outside fire place.... More
