Spent only one night there on our way back home but we had a great time regardless. Fantastic views, some pull-though slots much better than others in terms of space, view and proximity to neighboring camping spots. Be sure to check satellite views to get a better idea of what I mean - we lucked out and didn't have anyone... More

We had a fantastic time for our first time camping at Loft Mountain Campground this past 4th of July. I had read negative post about the Rangers and staff at this campsite. However, we had the opposite experience. The staff (Brian Noland) and camp host (Andy & Beverly) were extremely helpful and friendly. We arrived on Thursday, July 3rd and... More

We checked in on the Wednesday before the 4th of July holiday. All of the reserved areas were booked and it was first come first served for a campsite. It was no problem getting one but by the holiday, the campground was at capacity and they were turning people away. The rangers at check-in were very friendly and brought the... More

After reading all the reviews I could find on camping in Shenandoah National Park, we chose Loft Mountain Campground because of the privacy hedges between sites and the availability of showers. It was exactly what I wanted and what previous reviewers had described. An abundance of wildlife! Deer and bunnies literally everywhere... and bears! I'll address a few negative comments... More

Sites are ok, hilly - be careful if you have a camper... Nice but because it was pretty empty. Its in the out of the way part of the park. Nice hiking. THE BIGGEST down side was the bathrooms at the camp store (showers). If they are cleaned and closed each day at 1 to 3, why are they FILTHY... More

This campground was wonderful! The privacy of each camp site is as good as it gets. The sites are clean, quiet and full of wild life. We were able to see deer foraging for food right in the foliage next to our tent, and we saw 9 bears, so they are present! The Rangers are not as harsh as other... More

We have been to this beautiful park a number of times, camped in the backcountry, Big Meadows, and Loft. We had the best views from A10 site, the sunsets were amazing and the overall view of the valley was also superb. We always enjoy the full moon and the light it brings, the stars light up the sky.. I wish they... More

I had the best time of my life here. Top tips and observations: 1. Go to the amphitheater at sunset for an AMAZING view. 2. Showers are $1/5 minutes. Your stuff will sit on an outside-of-stall bench. Water is warm. 4 women's stalls. 3. Camp store is overpriced. $5.20 for graham crackers. $5.50 for a small bundle of wood. If... More

This campground is located in the center of Skyline Drive in Shenandoah NP. It makes it easy to enjoy the park in all directions. Great place to photograph deer at sunrise/sunset. There are asl many photo ops from the many turn-offs along Skyline Drive. There is also a general store, gas station, and showers nearby.

We enjoy tent camping & this campground was wonderful. I love the separation of tent sites from the RVs. The restrooms & the shower rooms are kept very clean. The rangers & staff are very friendly & helpful. We had a great campsite-peaceful & private. We would definitely go back to this campground.
