Quiet beautiful private sites. Great staff on site with store. Trails galore! Scenic overlook. This nature breathe live love! Deer bunnies birds bears. I laid in the grass yes the grass and watched bunnies jump in and out of the bushes. Heaven.

Nice helpful rangers, beautiful trails nearby, clean facilities. There are tons of spots for camping. We hiked from the campsite to some falls off the AT. If you forgot something essential the camp store likely has it, and they so see firewood.

We camped at Loft Mountain for a night in October. This is a fairly large campground with almost 200 campsites. It's located about 80 miles south of the Front Royal Entrance to Shenandoah. So if you enter at Front Royal, it's approximately a 2 hour drive along Skyline Drive to the campground. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't that great when we... More

SUCH a beautiful place to visit. So sad we only stayed for one night, I will be back for sure! It was such a beautiful setting with rolling hills covered in trees. It was the first place me and my boyfriend visited on our cross country road trip and I must say out of everywhere we visited this was the... More

Spent four days and three nights tent camping at site C60 over the Labor Day weekend. What a great campground and great experience. I originally had made advance reservation for 2 nights but I arrived early enough to pick a first come, first serve site for an extra night. Even with the busy weekend, the campground seemed deathly quiet around... More

Stayed for two nights over Labor Day weekend. What a nice stay! We had a very private camp site for our tent, with lots of shrubbery and trees in between each site. For the most part, it was very quiet, which was remarkable given that it was Labor Day weekend. There was one large group of teens at one of... More

We pitched a tent in site G165. Pros: Brush provides nice privacy, mixture of sun and shade, level with little rocks or tree roots, two large trees, place to run a clothes line or hammock but not both trash bins just across the street, no generators Cons: picnic table sits under a large pine tree that drops needles and bugs,... Stayed here at the beginning of August in one of the walk-in tent sites. Nicely spaced, we were mere steps away from the Appalachian Trail, and we had a great seat for the sun set (we were in site 10b). Bathrooms were a bit of a walk (it was a walk in campsite), but they were nice. We not only... More

My takeaways: The bathroom we used was totally fine...not 5 starts, but fine. The primitive sites were awesome...totally secluded, got really quiet and dark at night. Plus boxes to put your stuff in away from the bears.

We had a nice stay at Loft Mountain Campground. We arrived early in the week in mid August and most cited were vacant. We reserved in advance but this is clearly not necessary and it meant we couldn't shop around for an idea site. But the facilities are good and we enjoyed ourselves despite rainy weather. There is a camp... More
