Shenandoah is one of the prettiest NPs we've had the pleasure of visiting. It's a shame that there isn't better accommodation within the NP (we didn't want to lose precious hiking time staying outside and driving in). Big Meadows lodge was as good as it gets there from what I saw. We had a large king room with a fire... More

We had never stayed at Big Meadows, or Skyland and flipped a coin. We wanted a room with a fireplace, that worked. We did get that, and there was plenty of firewood, but little kindling to start the fire. We managed to get it started however. This could have been great, but there was no real view from our room.... More

We expend a night at the Shenandoah National park and we decide to stay over night at the park, so we stay at the Big Meadow Lodge, it was warm in all the sense of the word, nice people nice service and a very nice restarant.

I have been visiting Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park for more than 40 years. It is truly one of my favorite places in the world and I have travelled some. ~ Big Meadows Lodge has always been our place to go relax, whether we were with the kids years ago or just by ourselves as a couple. There is... More

When I travel to Shenandoah, I always stay at Big Meadows Lodge, and I'm never dissapointed. Love the view of the valley from the great room, and sitting next to the fire with a glass of wine! I recommend the lodge without reservation!

Big Meadows is a very beautiful old lodge and its common rooms are rustic and full of character. Its staff is very nice and helpful. I was in Room #2. If you like the rustic to not include any of the modern conveniences, this is the place for you. I was ok with no TV. For me, however, I didn't... More

Big Meadows is not too far from DC and makes for a great get-away! It is quiet and beautiful up on that thar mountaintop! Great food and helpful staff. You are very close to many trails ... some long and some being short loops. It is a great getaway!

We enjoyed our stay here. The service was great. Don't expect too many luxury amenities, but they aren't needed. The dining is top notch. Casual attire was fine although the service was as good as any five star resort.

Shenandoah National Park offers tons of outdoor adventures appropriate for families with toddlers and staying in the park allows the chance to stay on schedule - going back to the room for naps, several keeping snacks and food for breakfast and lunch to make things more affordable, and short mild-moderate hikes. We loved it and hope to make it an... More

Friends in England were totally split on the alternative in-park accommodation in Shenandoah, so we compromised and took a room for just 1 night at Big Meadows. This even split us, with the 2 views being <> Decent modern en-suite, although a bit cramped. Characterful. In the park (so very convenient) with quite efficient heating and a log fire. A... More
