I enjoyed what the lodge had to offer. My husband and I's stay was very memorable and relaxing. We will be coming back. The only issue was the insulation issue where you could hear people in their rooms and I feel it could be updated some for the rooms.

My wife and I were driving back to the DC area from Tennessee and wanted to break up the drive. Initially we investigated places along I-81 but could not identify a nice place that also served dinner. Then we thought of detouring for a section of the Skyline Drive and stopping at a place we had talked about years ago... More

Built in the 1930's by the CCC. This is a great choice for getting away from the city and experiencing clear skies, mountain air and gorgeous vistas. We had a lower level room with large picture windows that overlooked the valley below. Our room was very spacious with 2 comfy queen beds. The bathroom is huge and wheelchair accessible. At... More

We made a spur of the moment stop here on a Saturday night, when driving back to DC from dropping our son off at JMU in Harrisonburg. Wonderful atmosphere! Delicious food at reasonable prices. We had both dinner and breakfast and both exceeded our expectations. Our waitress Zuki was very knowledgeable in helping us pick out a wine and the... More

When I first arrived there was a bug on the bed and then I also woke up to a bug crawling on my face and I'm too afraid to go back to bed. The out doors are great just my room is nasty and bugs are everywhere. Why the hell do I have to write 200 characters I'm just trying... More

The lodge is situated at a height with some breathtaking views of the valley. Accommodation was clean and comfortable and fairly good value for money. Restaurant served excellent meal, obviously the produce used was of good quality and very flavoursome. Excellent service. Would definitely return again.

Wonderful hiking trails. The lodge makes a great home base to do your excursions. We stayed in the cabins, and they were rustic in a cute way. No place to sit and hang out, though. No kitchen facilities to cook your own food. No grill either, unless you drive to the picnic area. We had a cooler though, and packed... More

Big Meadows Lodge was clean and the grounds exceptionally well kept. We enjoyed our stay, and younger family members camped in the nearby camp ground. Cooking over campfires, loads of wild, hiking, beautiful surroundings...what else could we ask for. I'd recommend the experience to everyone.

We had an informative, relaxing day with like minded people learning how to take pictures to capture the beauty of nature. The weekend overall was very relaxing and peaceful. The rooms were cozy if not gran but the rustic charm was comforting. There is something to do for everyone. A great place to go and unplug and just enjoy being together.

Truly enjoyed both the Big Meadows Lodge and their restuarant. Was pleasantly surprised at the overall ammenities of our room based upon the time frame this lodge was constructed. There are readily available nature trails based from the lodge and very serene and pretty surroundings in the woods easily accesssible. We had both dinner and breakfast in the restuarant and... More
