My family stayed in Room 90 at Big Meadows Lodge on Oct 9, 2015 and woke up to a bed crawling across our bed. We contained the bug and took it to the front office, at that point the general manager called for the onsite exterminator to come check our beds. As we waited my husband and I lifted the... More

I love Big Meadows. Yes, it is rustic, but that is why we go every fall and have been for the last 10 years. The food is better than most places like this. The rooms are dated and desperately need a soft goods update. We go because we do day hikes, bike rides, lounge, no TV, no cell phones, no... More

the setting is beautiful, the facility is worn in a friendly way. We stayed the week before it was about to close for the season so most likely not at the top of it's game, but we had a good time and suprisingly the restaurant was good and what staff there was were friendly.

We stayed at this lodge because it was the midpoint on the skyline drive through the Shenandoah valley. We booked this room in advance on the park website which offered limited photos of the accommodations with no external shots, now I know why. We booked a cabin style lodge with a fireplace which turned out to be a small shack... More

We stayed at the Big Meadows Lodge on our way from Harper's Ferry to Charlottesville. We took the Skyline Drive, which was a mistake as the weather was rainy and foggy. All the way up to the Lodge we could not see any further than 50-feet from the roadway, and the same conditions the next day on the way to... More

I choose Big Meadows Lodge for a one night stay while visiting the Shenandoah National Park, because I wanted to stay in the lodge. I ended up in a cabin with some critters. When I got settled, I heard gnawing on one of the outside walls. A bit later, a huge spider continuously circled the rim of overhead light. I... More

For the second year in a row, i chose Big Meadows lodge as my fall vacation destination. Last year, I had an amazing room, with a beautiful fireplace. The restaurant was great, both this year, and last. But my stay this year was very disappointing on the lodging side of things. The restaurant was still excellent. But, the check-in experience... I love this lodge. I've stayed here on 4 separate trips since I first discovered it in 2013--and I live 7 hours drive away. Having grown up out west with the dramatics of Yellowstone and Grand Teton this park offers something very different - tranquility. Big Meadows has tons of that and is the best place to stay in Shenandoah.... More

I stayed at Big Meadows Lodge recently. I love it there, it is so pretty, historic, and I enjoy looking at its pretty view of the Shenandoah Valley so much. The Gift Shop, Dining Room, Great Room, and Tap Room are so relaxing and welcoming. Debbie in the Tap Room is such a sweetheart. She has a heart that knows... More

We have stayed in several old lodges and know there are "quirks" to be tolerated for the locale...we opted to stay in one of the 'newer' cabins, but a bathroom showing signs of long-term neglect (complete mold on the shower walls) and a leaky roof that drips into the heater were enough to lodge a major complaint with the front...
