When reserving i requested a room facing the valley, but got placed elsewhere when i arrived. not a big deal, given that i was out hiking the majority of the time. rooms were basic but comfy and neat. bathroom was spacious, water pressure and temp just fine. i wouldn't recommend BML if staying in room much of the time. If... more

This hotel was simply wonderful. We stayed here while on my summer sketch tour. The rooms are rustic but lush. The view, of course, is outstanding. We ate dinner there also, and it was very good. They had some very delicious regional specialties. It was great to be able to stay in the part to see and sketch the sunset and... more

Ended up staying at the BML at the last moment and we were so glad we did. Clean, comfortable rooms. A very good dinner at the restaurant. Great views, friendly staff and even friendlier deer roaming around the grounds! I enjoyed it so much I am thinking of taking my four year old grandson back out there next week. more

Having extensively reviewed other places to stay, I chose this one. It is in the forest and has all the amenities you could need. There are deer outside your room door most of the time! There is a range of rooms available, the one we chose was well equipped (fan, good shower, TV, coffee maker) and had a balcony with... more

The only thing to mar our visit was that our reservation had been made for a room that "was not available". Instead we were offered another room, further from the main lodge, but much, much nicer. It included a very comnfy king bed, gorgeous stone wood-burning fireplace (wood stacked outside your door), big flat-panel TV and our own deck. The... more

Our biggest disappointment was that it was too warm to actually use the fireplace in our room. (The bathroom was bare-bones. Another drawback for me.) Not a fancy place, but comfortable and rustic. The hiking was fabulous. Kids programs at the Visitors Center. Campfire a bit of a let-down, but the nightly music in the taproom was delightful -- only... more

My husband, two-year-old, and I just returned from staying at Big Meadows Lodge, and we couldn't be much happier with our stay. We had a two-room suite with fireplace and fridge, and it was $144 per night. It was an end unit (all the suites are, I believe) and had a private balcony, whereas the other rooms' balconies were all... more

We stayed 2 nights in the Doubletop building - one of their "superior rooms" with a TV. The 1st story room had a piney aroma upon entering and a patio outside overlooking a small meadow filled with monarch butterflies. The bathroom was oldish, but clean. My only complaints are the small sink with no place to put toiletries and the... more

After touring a few other national parks and their lodges/resorts, we were looking forward to staying in Shenandoah. The trip began inauspiciously, as we tried to check into Skyland Resort, which is where we made reservations online. However, the rude clerk told us that our room was at Big Meadows, despite what our print-out said. So we made the 20-minute... more
