The John Muir Lodge stay was just what we were looking for to connect with the Magnificent Kings Canyon and Sequoia Park! The staff was terrific, friendly and knowledgable. The suggestions we received regarding trails and places to visit were right on. We appreciate the comfort of the rooms and the cleanliness of the facility. The restaurant provided quality food... We were met by a surly receptionist who just didn't seem very happy in her job. The restaurant was a bit of a joke. To call it a restaurant is pushing the definition. Choices are very limited. We ordered soup, which while it was tasty arrived tepid. It was sent back. My wife's came back warm but mine was still... More

Dear Dave, Thank you for your comments. We're sorry that you did not enjoy your experience. When we took over the property in 2013, we did a major renovation to all the rooms, but it remains a wood-frame building, which means noise travels more than in a concrete structure. We did receive permission from the National Park Service to expand... More

For those of us who consider a camping trip to be an overnight at the local Motel 6, the John Muir Lodge would be a great improvement. It is difficult to rate this property because "what do you really expect in the middle of a highly visited National Park?" The Lodge was clean, adequate, nicely appointed and easily accessible. It... Loved the lodge and the inviting common area with a wood-burning fireplace. The beds were clean and incredibly comfortable. The location was convenient as either a start or finish in Sequoia. There was abundant wildlife to view in the morning and early evening as we walked to the restaurant which is not connected to the hotel. The corridors of the... More

The lodge, built in 2000, has a nice appearance both outside and inside. Registration is in a separate building a quarter mile away, and adjacent to the NPS Visitors Center. Therefore the lodge has an unattended lounge area with seating and wifi. Unfortunately the wifi signal does not reach the rooms. Our room was spacious enough for two people, had... More

We had an amazing time at Sequoia National Park. It was just gorgeous and John Muir Lodge was a great place to stay. New carpet, bedding and fluffy white towels. Fire always going in the main lodge fireplace.

The room was a OK... The restaurant service is not good at all, not enough servers for a lot of people's. The food was not good either. did not have a good experience and most likely not to come back again...

Thank you for your comments. We have made and continue to make every effort to hire more staff. To that end, we have been working with the National Park Service to expand employee housing to make it easier to attract more staff. The added housing this year and the completely new restaurant next year will improve service and the overall... More

The location of John Muir Lodge is very convenient . It is off of highway 180 and very close to Grant tree. The room has been remodeled. Everything is new and clean. The flat screen TV was nice. It would be nice if Wi Fi is available in the room. We enjoyed this stay very much. The service was excellent.... More

Nice place in a fantastic setting. Rooms were nice, and the overall facilities (restaurant etc.) were good. No complaints ay all. Ideal place to stay if you want to explore the Sequoia National Forest.

Great accommodations and food, great price with easy access to two of our most beautiful National Parks. The Lodge has good TV, cell service and WiFi (in the lobby). The rooms are very clean and we'll decorated. A great place to use as "home base" after day-tripping.
