A small-lodge atmosphere that was cleaner and more spacious than expected, compared to other national park lodge experiences in the past. My room on the 2nd floor (as requested) was quiet, especially since it faced the forest rather than the parking lot. A negative was no small refrigerator in the room for snacks/beverages, so had to use the ice machine... More

We set our expectations low for this rustic lodge in the mountains of a national park. It is actually quite new, and decorated to seem rustic. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms clean and modern. We had two concerns. First, the pull-out sleeper sofa hadnot been changed from the prior guests. Also, they claimed to have internet access but... More

This a great hotel for getting away from everything to a certain extent. The beds were comfy. Room decor was dated. The lodge Great Room was beautiful. Downside: No fridge in the room and the only place to eat is a 5 minute walk down from the hotel, but they only serve during certain times, so if you arrive after... More

Beautiful, peaceful place right in the forest - with facilities a short stroll away. I'm not sure if John Muir would want to stay there - there's nothing spartan about the lodge even if it is on the edge of the wilderness. We enjoyed its cosiness and its warm comfortable rooms. We particularly enjoyed stepping outside in the evening to... More

Exactly what I was hoping for when I booked at the last minute during the last week of 2011. There's a big community room with a fireplace and board games, very clean guest rooms and a good dining room, grocery store and park service office on site. Basic/rustic as far as hotels go, but there is wifi-- at least when... More

We decided to visit Kings Canyon National Park on short notice and drove up on a Friday to Grant Grove Village and received nothing but excellent service from all the staff we encountered. We took a room at the John Muir Lodge which was simply but tastefully decorated with a view of the forest and enjoyed a very comfortable evening.... More

We spent just one night at John Muir Lodge when visiting Sequoia and Kings Canyon, whilst driving between Yosemite and Death Valley. Although we visited in May there was still a lot of snow on the ground and John Muir Lodge was extremely cosy and welcoming with a big fire in the entrance place. The rooms are very tastefully furnished... More

The stay at the lodge was very pleasant -- warm, quiet, great water pressure. It was nice relaxing in the great room at night when the fire is set up in the fireplace. For a bit more money we could've stayed at Montecito Sequoia for the all-inclusive package (meals included, buffet style). But the scene at Montecito was families with... More

we stayed here for two nites while visiting the park. the rooms were very clean and decorated nicely. the lobby area is nice and homey with a large fireplace where people gather in the evening to chat and play games around the fire. no phones and no tv's what more could you ask for. oh yes the scenery is beautiful,... My wife and I went for a quick get away to the Sequoia's. We stayed at the Lodge and ate at the Lodge restaurant. Lodging: The rooms are on the Spartan side but very comfortable. We enjoyed a quiet night before our next day adventures by the fire in the Great Room. It was cozy and romantic and we slept... More
