This is a great campground a little ways away from the main campground LODGEPOLE; however this is a great location ,a lot of wildlife to see wake up to deer and other small animals from the area . Bring your own stuff because to get food or other things you might have forgotten It a ways away (15 drive to... More

Dorst creek campground is the spot for you. We had bears walk thru our camp every morning around breakfast time and every night around dinner. Space 12 is the spot to get. In a matter of 4 hours of check in we encountered bear and dear. Great adventure for the family.

Due to the draught the campground had stopped accepting reservations and was only one third full when we stayed there. You can see deer in the morning, there is a good free shuttle connection that takes you to the famous General Sherman tree. The campground itself is beautifully situated and very quiet. Facilities are on a very basic level (as... More

We stayed at Dorst for 2 nights, after we found out that our first picks were full. Man, am I glad that they were. The campground was a decent size and had many open sites when we were there. We chose a site near the entrance, mostly because we didn't realize there were so many more sites if we went... More

This is a nice campground. Central to everything in both parks and very close to Lodgepole (showers, store, ect). Campsites are big enough with tables and fire pits and some have RV/Trailer access (some sites do have more shade than others). There is a group site available if you can book it. Bathrooms are nice (flush) and cleaned twice a... More

We just recently stayed in Dorst (6/22-6/27) and very much enjoyed it. There were plenty of trees and our particular campsite (#105) was very large with plenty of level space for our tents. Can't say the same for some of the other sites. When we checked out other sections of the campground, we noticed that the majority of the sites... More

Camping at Dorst was my first experience with Bear Lockers. We brought way too much food so meal prep and clean up took up a great part of our mornings. Lodgepole is close enough for ice runs, which we coordinated with shopping and showers. Lines for showers were long and I waited 45 minutes on a Saturday evening. Bathrooms at... More

Really lovely location, you walk into the woods to find dry timber, set up a fire and cook your food, cant get closer to nature than that. Big pitches for RV basic but acceptable facilities, and a shuttle bus to the lodgole visitor centre. Family of four thoroughly enjoyed our two day stay! And all for $20 a pop

Wow! What a trip we had to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park this year (July 2013). The parks themselves were amazing and delivered more than we could have imagined. As far as Dorst Creek, we chose this campground mostly because of location. The campground is centrally located between Lodgepole (Giant Forest) and Grant Grove (Kings Canyon Visitors Center). In... Spent two nights camping here.. Overall good, bit noisy on the sunday night.. Our pitch was a bit tight for our relatively small tent meaning we had to pitch half in a bush! There was also a fair bit of litter.. However the location is great for the parks and the toilets were clean
