This was the busiest of all the campsites we visited, a lot of people, making a lot of noise (until quiet time) Pitches were large with all the usual equipment Toilets were clean but a little small & no shower facility ?? Best of all, on the way to the campsite, we saw a mother bear & her cub, for... More

Dorst is a very nice campground. Grounds are clean and well equipped, the sites aren't totally crammed in on each other. Some Sequoia campgrounds are more scenic, this one does have a trail to a small Sequoia grove we didn't have time to visit. It is also one of 2 campgrounds in Sequoia that has reservations available which can ease... More

We love National Park camprounds. Dorst had one problem that we have seen solved in better ways in other National Park campgrounds. There was NO place to wash your dishes or dispose of dishwater. The water faucetts, say " No dishwashing," as they should. But the only other sinks in the park are in the bathrooms. It is fine to... More

We just spent 3 nights at dorst campground, we usually stay at stony creek. The sites are definitely smaller but very nice. For being such a huge campsite it definitely is really quiet and peaceful. It was full the weekend we were there but it was still pretty quiet and neighbors seem really respectful of each other. We didn't have... More

I have camped at Dorst Creek and Lodgepole in the past. This time around, the other campers were a little rowdy, which is the only reason i put a four out of five for this time of year. Otherwise, Dorst is very peaceful and secluded compared to the more touristy Lodgepole. Rangers are helpful if you ask but they don't... More

We stayed for 4 nights @ # 177. It was close to the restroom which has flush toilets (always a plus). They did run out of toilet paper in the women's restroom so word of advise, bring some from home just in case. We did hear banging and yelling the first 3 nights which told me there was a bear... We usually camp in southern sites, but as it was summer booked for Dorst. Only minor bear experiences and rangers were on top of it, facilities were mostly clean, rangers were a bit nick-picky, but overall very helpful. Site was beautiful-meadows and small rock hills. A small trek to muir grove starts near the group campgrounds and is very pretty-there... More

Booked 3 nights. #95. Perfect location. Not too close to the bathrooms, had the faucet right there, and flat ground. Pretty creek where we took some wine and hung by the water. Muir Grove trail is within the camp and it's a fun 4-mi round trip trail to Sequoias. Yes, we had a bear encounter whilst around the campfire. He... More

We were a group of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids), who stayed at Dorst for 3 nights in late June. Huge pro--it's a lovely campground. We stayed across from the meadow towards the back of the campgrounds. My quibbles are that it's mixed camping--RVs amidst tents-- and the RV generators going all hours of the night are wearying. Also, one... More
