This campground is pretty basic, and is NOT a good place for tent campers. The sites are tiny, so you will want to go to Potato Patch campground if you are tent camping. The sites are right on the creek, for the most part, so if you have smaller children, this can be a bit hazardous. We camped in the spring, when there was a pretty good flow of water in the creek from snowmelt. I wouldn't recommend this site if you have small children, but it's wonderful for older kids who enjoy fishing. more

My wife and I took our 9 month old camping this summer to Elam campground right off Highway 32. This is a great little campground maintained by the National Forrest Service. It is a fairly undeveloped campground. Facilities only include garbage dumpsters, pit toilets and a hand pump for water, but the campground is paved, so it is not diffucult getting around. There are only about 14 sites, and a few of them were closed due to damage. We arrived on the Friday after Memorial Day and were lucky enough to get a good site. I would recommend arriving in the afternoon. Camping fees were $14 per site per night, which is a deal in my opinion, as compared to $40 in Yosemitte... more
