We flew into Redoubt Bay with Rusts flying service, landed in the most beuatiful cove ever. Got out at the Lodge and was greated by very nice staff. Gave us warm drinks and outfitted us to jump on a pontoon boat and go find bear and salmon. It took a while, but the bears showed. Totally worth every minute of... More

We came to Redoubt Bay Lodge by floatplane from Anchorage. It took around 50 minutes to get there and on the way we saw Beluga whales. The flight itself is rather underwhelming until you get near to the lodge and you see the mountain range and the lake where the lodge is. Because we were only on a day trip... More

An amazing place. We felt like royalty. Beautiful food freshly prepared and service with a smile. The staff were wonderful, the guide helpful, patient and informative. The bears did not disappoint. We were in their habitat. If you feel the need to see more, go to a zoo. They are wild and free and living as nature intended and it... More

We flew into Redoubt Bay Lodge for the bear viewing. You are taken across the bay to one spot to view bears that are fishing. We did see 2 grizzly bears and their cubs as well as several bald eagles and one black bear from a boat. We were not able to get very close due to our guide, who... More

If you want to see bears, if you want to go Salmon fishing, if you want to go to an incredibly beautiful isolated setting accessible only by float plane this is a great option. In one forty-eight hour stay we saw lots of bears, caught our limit of Salmon, Kayaked, walked on bogs, took in the views and ate delicious... More

We spent 3 days at Redoubt Bay Lodge at the end of our Canada/Alaska holiday. What a great decision! We were flown in by float plane from Anchorage. On arrival at the dock we were greeted by the wonderful staff and taken up to the main lodge for lunch. Lovely salmon. We were shown up the hill to our cabin... More

Our three day stay at Redoubt Bay was a joint effort by our three children as a surprise celebration of my 70th birthday. My wife and I had no idea of who was going to be with us until our oldest daughter got us to Lake Hood...nor where we were going to until we arrived at Redoubt Bay. Our oldest... More

An amazing place. So remote, so peaceful, such hospitable hosts, awesome food. My wife and I spent two nights in September 2011 and wished we could stay longer. The bear viewing and the canoeing were wonderful. Perhaps one of our best travel experiences.

The bear viewing day trip they offer is a waste of money. We saw several black bears and one small brown bear so seeing them wasn't the problem. Their idea of "bear viewing" is to park you on a pontoon boat for an hour in a small cove that is crowded with five or six boats full of vacationers trying... More

We flew into Redoubt as a day trip on our way from Tutka Bay and Winterlake lodge. It was thoroughly delightful. Our guide took us out on a boat, touring the lake, and we saw several bears. What an opportunity to watch these amazing animals in their natural habitat. The lodge is rustic and wonderful, the lunch served was terrific.....local... More
