I spent 7 days at the Katmai Lodge in August, 2015. The reviews were great before we booked and our experience at the lodge far exceeded anything I expected. The food was unbelievable for being in a remote area. prime Rib, fresh crab caught near the lodge, home made cookies and ice cream. The bear viewing was excellent. Perry and... More

The title says it all. We ( 4 persons) had already had great bear viewing on a boat for four days roaming the Katmai Peninsula, so with a few days nefore our next hook up we had three nights at the lodge. Wow. The rooms are kept squeaky clean by Angela and her husband Perry made sure we saw the... More

We have just returned from 5 absolutely unforgettable days in the lodge, days we will always have the absolute best memories of, while looking at the first opportunity to return here! The Katmai Wilderness Lodge is located in the heart of Kukak Bay which is true, wild Alaskan nature with incredible wildlife viewing opportunities without the crowds of people like... More

for us, being in a place, in a space where "nature has not been re-arranged by man" is what we seek and often do not find. But we did here, being in this magical place lifted our spirits and fed our soul...it will be a memory that will endure and one we hope we can repeat. Angela and Perry are... More

We visited in 2009. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The food was excellent. Wildlife viewing was beyond our expectations. We went to see bears and we got to see them daily. Bald Eagles, puffins, sea otters and humpback whales were some of the other wildlife we encountered. The staff went out of their way to ensure we got... More

I was at Katmai Wilderness Lodge from June 14 to June 24, 2015. (I'm writing this the day after I left.) I was expecting to see bears fishing for salmon, and in that I was disappointed, since it was too early for salmon near the lodge. Instead, I saw bears eating sedge grass in the meadows, playing with their cubs... More

To be able to sit 40 feet away from a bear hunting for fish was simply amazing, but we also got to see more bears, sea otters by the dozen, seals, bald eagles, puffins, foxes and a wolf in only two and a half days. Angela and Perry (with Bob and Sherri the chef) run the very comfortable lodge and... More

If you want to see bears close up then this is the place to go. We have just had the most amazing experience sitting within 50 feet of huge bears while they fed. No fences, no crowds and no time limits. You can just sit and watch them for hours. Perry and Bob were our guides and they know their... More

We were recommended the lodge by the agent we used and he was full of praise for them. He was not wrong, the place is the best. The location nesteld between sea and mountains is stunning, the accommodation simple but perfectly adequate, the staff could not be more helpful and friendly, and Shawns food out of this world. Perry the... More
