The grounds are excellent, clean, relatively spacious, however, not what you want if you are looking for silence and no city lights (of course it is right off highway so I'm expecting champagne on a beer budget ;)) I would come again with the family. Windy at night till about 11pm. Gorgeous mornings.

This is a really great National Parks campground. Don't worry about the last mile of road to this location, as it was just re-paved last year. That last mile is now the best part of the trip! The campground is situated high above the town of Joshua Tree and provides spectacular views of the valley below. It's really nice to... More

Just got back from Black Rock Canyon campground and had a relaxing, enjoyable time. The grounds were spotless - completely free of any trash despite the small number of trash bins around and some windy conditions. We stayed in our 18' travel trailer, though the clear majority of campers were in tents. We had made reservations and the campground was... More

We just returned from a three day stay at Joshua. We stayed at the small Belle campground which was situated around very large rocks. Take time to explore all of the signed canyons and attractions. Do go spring or fall, otherwise it gets extremely hot. Pack plenty of water and sunscreen. Very limited water available. No stores within the park.... More

This campground is in sight of the town of Yucca Valley, you can see houses from the campsites, which is something I don't really like. It's on a very, very rough road! Otherwise it's clean, the sites are a nice size and it has running water and flush toilets! But if you can - you've got to camp inside the... More

Liked being able to book an RV pull-thru site in advance. Called ahead to let them know we would be late driving in from Grand Canyon. Woman was very friendly and told me to come to the Nature Center and grab a site map when we arrived. Was pitch black when we arrived (great for stargazing!). Broken pavement on way... More

I don't know if due to offseason or budget cuts or what, but the bathrooms were never cleaned during our 2 night stay. There were signs posted with times each day it was supposed to be cleaned. I know it's camping but this was gross. This campground is outside Joshua Tree and is very close to Yucca Valley, so going... More

I've been to Joshua Tree on many occasions but this was my first time in this part of the park. Black Rock is easy to get to but expect a very bumpy road right before you get to the campgrounds and inside the loops. The campgrounds are basic with a picnic table and fire pit. Not too much space in between... More

Great campsite with big pitches (some more level than others), fire pits and picnic benches. There is very little shade so an awning is essential. The facilities were clean with the bonus of flushing loos. The rangers were very helpful when we checked in but there was no sign of them on Saturday night when people were partying at 4... More

drove in with four friends and stayed two nights in spot 30. its the top of the grounds and pretty much isolated, during the day it is the head to the Black Rock Canyon Trail that branches the rest of the trails so you'll probably have travelers passing through regularly. we were there late may and midweek and the grounds...
