spent 5 nights at Rock Harbor Lodge with group - rooms very basic but clean and comfortable, park rangers were informative, restaurant food was good but pricey. . didn't see any moose - moose droppings were as close as we came. The Park is beautiful, the trip across Lake Superior from Houghton by ferry was fine, and it had been... more

We back-packed & then stayed for 2 nights at the lodge. One of the two space heaters in this several hundred dollar cabin did not work and when I reported it to the desk I was told, "this isn't the Waldorff". After one night we were moved to a smaller room, saggy mattress, hot water heater wasn't working ( I... more

Isle Royale itself is wonderful. The lodge rooms are pretty basic and expensive, but you know that going in. We were forced to stay two additional nights due to weather problems. We were downgraded from a room with two beds and a full bath to one about half the size with one bed and a tiny bathroom. The ceiling also... more

First of all..if you want a vacation that involves watching TV or surfing the internet or being able to make and receive calls all day - Isle Royale is not the place for you. I loved the feeling of being away from it all. The time went slowly, but didn't drag. You just lose yourself in your surroundings. We'd just... more

My wife and I went to Rock Harbor Lodge for our honeymoon. The bad outweighed the good. While we had a beautiful view of the lake from our hotel room, had fun hiking, and enjoyed viewing all the wilderness, our room had no television, no phone, no internet, no fridge, and no microwave. Also 2 uncomfortable full size beds, which... more

Of course you don't go to Isle Royale for the motel but it could be more for the money or less money for what they offer. We stayed in the lodge and it was a second story room which means no balcony. You still have a water view but it is partially blocked by the roof of the balcony below.... more

My husband and I stayed the last night of our eight day backpacking trip at one of the cabins. The office staff was quite helpful and friendly, in spite what I'm sure was my disheveled appearance and aroma. The shower was hot, the cabin was clean and tidy, and the bed firm. We went to a ranger program at the... more

Very nice lodge rooms. The Balcony rooms were absolutely great, and the water rushing over rocks cradled you to sleep at night. The room help paid attention to any requests, and made sure it happened not just once when asked, but each day the same making sure you were happy with your stay. The park rangers on the island were... more

We just got back from IRNP. We stayed in the housekeeping cabins and were completely happy with our cabin. We had a beautiful view of Tobin Harbor through our picture window. I booked on the earliest date, which was 1/3/05 so our view was among the best. Some of the cabins do not have this spectacular view. The cabins were... more
