Visiting Volcanoes National Park is a great experience. Staying inside the park is better. Staying in the military camp is the best! We were sponsored by my veteran father. It is reasonably priced, comfortable and far more interesting than a conventional accommodation. The grounds are extensive. It was great for our teenage and older offspring to have room to roam.... KMC was an outstanding choice as we returned to the Volcano. The cabins are rustic but fit right in at the Volcano. Service was good but checkin/checkout was a bit slow. The KMC offers a cafeteria, a mini-base exchange, a lounge and a gas station. Everyone can use the facilities, with the exception of lodging which is limited to military... More

It's not a 5 star resort; however, it offers decent lodging at affordable rates. When yo look at the services provided it's a steal of a deal. It has laods of onsite entertainment and services; bowling alley, theater, launder, general store, and much more. Tostay in town and the Volcano Lodge you'll easly pay atleast twice as much

We stayed in apartment AK. Our friends stayed in the one right next to us. I would suggest getting an end apartment as it had a bigger bedroom, theirs had a much bigger living room. We had a huge, comfy king bed. It was extremely comfortable, the sheets were very clean, the comforter and drape set was updated, and the... More

The staff at check in was friendly, informative and absolutely wonderful! We were upgraded to a 3 bedroom 2 full bath unit #94, SUPER NICE SURPRISE! We didn't need the third bedroom but it was a nice place to store all our luggage. Don't expect 5 star accommodations as the units are old BUT they were clean, plenty of pillows,... More

We didn't realize that the Kilauea Military Camp had a general store until AFTER we'd spent an arm and a leg at the general store in town. Lesson learned. Prices still are not what you'd call cheap, but at least a full dollar less expensive than the general store's prices.

Spent one night here, definitely not enough time. Seeing the volcano caldera at night is a must see, drive the Chain of Craters Road to the Ocean. We will be back. Units available to fit any size family traveling together.

As others have mentioned, don't expect the Hilton. However, these cabins are head and shoulders above some of the other lodges and cabins we've stayed at in other national parks. The cabins are old, but are comfortable for your stay at the volcanoes. The best part is the location - right on the crater rim. It's a short drive down... More

Fantastic location, you couldn't ask for better access to the Volcano and everything associated with the park. The lodging was very spacious and clean, and fairly upscale for military MWR lodging. The food at the facility is sub-par, so bring your own supplies and eat in your room. I highly recommend the Thai Thai restaurant, about 15 minutes away. The... More

We stayed in one of their two bedroom cottages with a full kitchen and jacuzzi tub. The grounds are made up of small little cottages which surround a bar, restaurant, cafe, general store and gym. From the outside the cottages look uninspiring. However once you enter, these little cottages couldn't be 'cuter'. The decor is very "cabin in the wilderness."... More
