if you can't get a room at the el tovar, this hotel is a good option to fall back on. The room was clean but it was pretty basic. No frills at all! Kinda noisy but it was really nice to watch the sunset and not have to then drive in the dark to your hotel. We did download a... More

The Kachina Lodge is right on the rim, and easily provides access to everything @ the Grand Canyon. But don't let the price tag fool you - small rooms, thin walls, uncomfortable odor in the hallway, wifi was impossible at night, no cable... Pros: You're staying INSIDE the National Park and right on the Rim. Cons: Almost everything else in... More

One has to check in at the El Tovar up the hill (and under major reno) Then drive down the one way, make a drop of luggage on the curb, go hunt for parking like your in NYC, hike back uphill, then schlep into your room. WHAT A BUNCH OF HOOEY. Then after you catch your breath, you discover there... More

When we first arrived, I was a little disappointed by the exterior of the building, which resembles a rundown elementary school from the 1970s. But our room (king bed, partial view) was clean, comfortable and surprisingly well-equipped....that is, except for no cable television, but that's because the hotel is in the middle of changing service providers. The WiFi was painfully... More

The room was clean, comfortable albeit small. No tv of any kind. Limited wifi. We paid for the view & were not disappointed. Parking is non existing unless you are super lucky. With all this said we spent one night for a sunset/sunrise over the canyon and it is a memory of a lifetime.

We wanted to book a room right on the rim and it is indeed worth every penny of this overpriced, poorly run property for just that. The location is the best thing about this place--you simply can't beat it. The room itself was clean, updated, and a perfect size for a family of 4 (2 queen beds). Bathroom nice, fridge... More

I liked so many things about this place and felt the price was worth it. It actually was far nicer than I expected, and must have been recently updated. We stayed on the first floor and had a great view. There is a Keurig coffee machine, refrigerator, granite counters, totally clean and painted well. Nice bed linens and lots of... More

The location is amazing. It's hard to beat a lodge where you can walk outside the building and the Grand Canyon is literally right in front of you! The staff was also incredibly helpful from the ease of check-in to the phenomenal service, both for dinner and then breakfast. My friends and I had lots of questions over dinner but... More

National park hotels are always pricey for what you get - you're paying for the location and you're dealing with a government monopoly provider. That considered I would stay at Kachina again and choose it over El Tovar for room size and views. Kachina is a motel style accommodation with no services. It's two minutes walk to el tovar and... The best part of staying at this hotel was the proximity to the South Rim and all the hiking trails. We have booked it last minute, because all the other options around the rim were already booked. The hotel had clean sheets and clean enough room, but no thrills and frills. The decoration in the hotel was rather depressing. Also,... More
