The Kachina Lodge is one of several lodging options on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Its rooms are more like a typical hotel than those in the historic El Tovar or Bright Angel cabins. The room was nice and the bathroom was clean. The bed was comfortable. The only problem in my room and in the Bright Angel... More

Location is excellent, on the rim of the Canyon. It is right adjacent to El Tovar which is the more upscale property. The restaurant and gift shop are located there. El Tovar lobby is nice and the restaurant is good but a little dark. We had a view of the canyon but unfortunately, it was foggy so the view could... More

We were looking to visit the Grand Canyon and wanted to stay at the Canyon to experience everything the Canyon had to offer. Even though I looked about 4 months in advance, there were only limited rooms available, and one was at the Kachina Lodge. I looked online at TripAdvisor Reviews and the pictures and descriptions seemed decent enough, so... More

Great location (room with partial canyon view), large enough for 3 persons (2 adults and a child). Restaurants available in the vicinity. Easy access (by car) to Grd canyon airport for Helicopter tours. Warm welcome during check-in and easy check out.

We stayed here one night in Aug 2014. Room had been updated within the past few years and had a very comfortable bed and other furnishings. The bathroom was small but adequate. Everything was clean. There was no elevator but we were on the first floor. The best part was the view of the grand canyon from our room. We... More

Do not expect luxurious appointments here, but try to book a Rim View room and open your curtains wide for a spectacular view of the canyon. The rooms in the Kachina Lodge were "redecorated in 2012," according to the front desk personnel at El Tovar, where you check in for your stay. Our room not bad at all, but it... More

My husband, young sons and I stayed at Kachina Lodge for three nights, August 17-20. We were on the second floor in what they call a "partial view" room. The view was more than "partial" in my opinion. We had a fabulous view of the canyon. The outside of the building is a bit drab and dormitory looking but the... More

Kachina Lodge has a great view, its a great location, nothing really to add here except the fact that our AC unit didn't really cool the room down when we were getting ready to go to dinner. At night the temps are much cooler (we went in July) and the windows open is all good for sleeping, but during the... More

My sister-in-law and I stayed at Kachina Lodge on August 8, 2014, while our husbands hiked down S. Keibab Trail to stay at Phantom Ranch. When I had to change our reservation from Phantom Ranch (due to knee surgery issues), the lady at Xanterra booked us at Kachina Lodge, but for a night in which we already had a reservation... More

If you are looking for a charming lodge or a four star hotel, this is not for you. But if you want a clean, comfortable room with an amazing view of the Canyon, restaurants, gifts shops, ice cream shops, mule rides, hiking trails, museum, ranger talks and walks, sunrise and sunset in brilliant color streaming into your room, then stay...
