I was a bit worried that the lodge was not going to be worth the room rate but we all were happy. The coffee/tea maker that uses K cups was a wonderful addition to the room. I also liked the large dispensers of lotion, soap, shampoo and conditioner. The maids were super nice and let me switch some of the... More

Guests stay at this hotel for one reason only - location, and did it ever deliver ! When planning our first visit to the Grand Canyon the one thing we knew would be hardest would be getting "on the rim" lodging. I booked 6 months in advance and Kachina was the one place with rooms. The rooms were updated and... More

We booked 2 nights at Kachina in late December for an April arrival - only because it was the only spot on the south rim with 2 consecutive nights available. It doesn't look particularly appealing from the website. Upon arrival, we checked in at the beautiful El Tovar lodge, and I was immediately envious and inquired about possible upgrades that... More

I was very impressed with the Kachina Lodge. The room was spotless and the bathroom was as well. I loved the location next to the El Tovar. Although the view is incredible, we spent so little time in our room that it wasn't worth the extra money. I think I would have enjoyed the view more from the room if... More

I read reviews for this hotel before we went to GCNP in March and was a little anxious about what we would experience. I was impressed with the room given the hotel is located immediately beside the El Tovar and on the edge of the canyon. Don't believe the bad reviews - this place is totally respectable and by staying... More

This review considers the whole lodging experience, considering there are very few options at the Grand Canyon rim. Our family stayed just one night at Kachina Lodge last weekend but were very happy overall with this choice after reading many reviews. The property is older, two stories, with rooms facing the employee dormitory or the Grand Canyon. We booked a... More

We checked in tonight and I was pleasantly surprised with the room. The "cinder block" walls that people complain about almost look more like painted bricks. I find them charming. The room is clean, the beds are comfortable, the location is convenient, and the view is gorgeous. No, this isn't the Ritz, but you're in a National Park.

We stayed one night, after staying two nights at Yavapai East, just for a different experience. We preferred the Kachina, and I'm surprised it is rated #9 amongst the hotel choices. Yes, it is like a dorm, cinder block walls, flat structure exterior. But function is solid, dry and warm. Our room was what they called a partial view, lower... More

We were only at the Canyon one night, but this room was great for us. It was a little small, but as an older hotel had been updated nicely. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean. You can't expect a five-star hotel in a national park, but Kachina Lodge exceeded my leery expectations.

The Kachina Lodge is just OK. It is nothing like a resort, so don't expect much. The room looks like a college dorm. The cinder block walls really make it look like a college dorm or maybe a nice state prison. The bathroom was small but clean. The towels were like sandpaper which is a major problem. The toilet needs... More
