The location and view (if you reserve a canyon view room) can't be beat. Just don't expect too much from the rooms. Mostly clean (except for the coffe mugs) but old and only partially updated. Lack of a front desk encourages rule-breaking. Room across the hall from us had a dog (not a service dog) staying.

The Kachina Lodge is associated with the historic El Tovar Hotel, on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Check-in is through the El Tovar desk. The partial canyon view room, offered incredible views , as we were literally less than 50 yards from the rim. The room was impressively appointed, with everything a couple or family could need. The... More

Very nice hotel, great location! We were between the El Tovar and Bright Angel. The hotel was just a sidewalk width away from the rim. Accommodations were clean and simple. Room was a typical double with 2 sitting chairs and a desk. You check in at El Tovar. We ate meals at the El Tovar and the Bright Angel as... More

Yes, you pay for the location but it is quite something to walk out of your door and find yourself at the rim 30 seconds later. The room was effective, nothing fancy but comfortable. Parking is tight so try to arrive early. We had a superb dinner at the Arizona room at Bright Angel Lodge just next door which I... More

My family recently spent two nights at the Kachina Lodge. The room was nice and modernized and clean. However, the sheets did not fit the bed and came loose at the bottom easily. The pillows were as flat as pancakes. The location is great and makes it easy to view the canyon at sunset and sunrise. The check-in at El... More

I was amazed that we could literally walk right outside our door and be at the South Rim of the gorgeous Grand Canyon. The room itself was very small and basic but comfortable and satisfactory. The awesome location and convenience was an experience of a lifetime. It was quite expensive and a one time treat but I must say being... More

the location near the edge of the GC is the best thing said about this hotel. And yes we know that you pay for the location. The room and décor is from another decade, and that's ok if it wasn't for the cleaning. We don't mind old décor or decoration, as long as the room is clean. On all panels,... More

I wouldn't rave about the hotel room but the location is awesome. Very hard to get a car park though so you may end up pushing your luggage a long way. We had an upstairs room which had views of the canyon.

This hotel is so close to the Grand Canyon it's unbelievable. I am so glad we decided to drive here and not do the helicopter ride from Las Vegas as you see so much more. It was my Mum and Dad's 30th wedding anniversary a couple of days before we stayed here and they were so pleased with their little... More

we enjoyed the close distance to the rim - one minute, and you are there! rooms are clean, could be a little bit modernized soon - colors seem outdated ... additional dollars for partial canyon view is not bad, but not necessary as you are so close anyway. the rim trail westwards is nice, and so convenient to return by...
