This seemed to be the closest campground outside of the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. It's about a 25 minute drive to the park. The area and park are absolutely gorgeous! I felt like we'd stepped into a Christmas card. Stunning views of the forest and a verrry long and beautiful meadow that runs for miles. Sites are... More

We had no real schedule on our week-long bike trip. Finished up at the North Rim kinda late and gave this place a shot. Absolutely quiet and tucked into the heavenly Ponderosa pines. Wildlife all around. Host was super-friendly and knowledgeable. Set us up with 3 bikes/2 tents on a roomy site for $27. Pretty primitive, pit toilets w/o sinks... More

If you cannot get into the North Rim National Parks campground (which can be booked months in advance) try this campground which can only be half booked in advance, the rest is first come first served, which means if you are travelling with no schedule like us you have a good chance of getting in. The campsite is at 8700... More

Demotte Campground was very nice. It was great to get out of the Phoenix heat for a couple of days. Had about 8800 feet or so the campground is 30° cooler than Phoenix!!! In the middle the night it gets downright cold!! The hosts were very friendly. My family and I spent three nights there with some friends. I can't... More

Recently stayed here for 2 nights. I booked ahead since the National Park campground was already full. Was not disappointed and actually may have preferred staying here. It was quiet (well off the main road) and most sites were generous in size surrounded by pines and aspen groves. Mostly tent campers with just a few RVs. (some sites are drive... More

Great campground 7 miles from the North Rim entrance to the Grand Canyon. Stargazing at night is a must -- unbelievable. Only issue we had was that camp hosts seem to misunderstand the policy about RV's filling up tanks with water. This is not meant to restrict paid occupants but rather to restrict RV's from driving in and grabbing water.... More

North Rim is reservation only and is booked solid 4 months ahead all summer long. Demotte (dee mot) is at 8000 feet, is in a pine forest, is very quiet, and clean. The toilets are vault, not flush. There are no sinks to wash in. The cost is $17, compared to $18 at North Rim. This place is overflow for... More

Nice Campground near a lodge and gas station with many campsites that are usually full. Great Location near the Grand Canyon.
