I wasn't sure what to expect here, the price was high for a HI Express, but everything in this town was expensive. You are 1 mile from the entrance to The Grand Canyon National Park, with nothing else around for miles, so if you can't stay in the park, you stay here and pay. That being said, this was a nice HIE. I was kind of taken aback when we checked in and were told... more
The usual for H.I.E. - clean good breakfast, nice staff. Minutes from park on main road. Not too noisy. Indoor pool nice. Rooms o.k. Nice friendly staff. At at Sophies Mexican, small family run place -very nice. We cook pizza - nice pizzas and pastas with salad bar. Both places not fancy at all but good value for money - good basic food, clean and friendly. more
Over the years my groups of geography students have always made the Holiday Inn Express Grand Canyon one of our choice stops as we travel the south western United States. The staff is always glad to help, the breakfast is well above average, the bed are comfortable, the rooms are clean, and the prices are competitive. Oh, we will be staying there again May 2010. Perception is reality. We have run into people on our... more
We spent a single night there. I'm glad it wasn't more. The bathroom look liked they cleaned the tub and toilet but not the floor, walls or door. The room was dull. That being said it was easy to jump on the road and drive to the Grand Canyon. Our breakfast was disappointing. They list a few items that they are supposed to offer. When they didn't offer one (scrambled eggs - the only source... more
We founf the hotel to be very crowded and had a very small pool for the size of the hotel. It was in a great location, close to the Grand Canyon NP (South Rim) and other restaurants). Middle of the road rooms with high-speed internet. Good choice for a short stay, but not for an extended stay. more
Checking in was easy, very nice desk agents. Rooms were clean and updated. Had a mini frig, microwave, decent TV, comfortable bed and bedding. Bathroom was adequate and clean, everything worked! The breakfast area was large and had 2 lines against each wall for food. They had cheese omlettes, biscuits and gravy, plus bagels and yogurt, hard boiled eggs, bread for toast, milk, juice, coffee and hot water for tea.It was constantly being restocked by... more
I stayed for 2 nights with husband and 2 kids (4 & 8) but I did not like much about the hotel to be honest. The place was packed with guests which only made things worse. Staff were unfriendly at best, hostile in some cases. Breakfast (which is included) was a total shambles. The dining room is far too small for the number of guests and it is badly arranged. I could not see milk... more
We were lucky to get a reservation for a last-minute trip to the Grand Canyon. Although it's not right in the park, (about 10 minutes away), this is a convenient location - you can take a free shuttle into the Grand Canyon park from right outside the hotel. Our room was spacious, clean and the bed was pretty good (lots of pillow choices!) There is a nice whirlpool (indoors) which felt great after a long... more
Capitalism works well near the Grand Canyon National Park. Although there are a few hotels just outside the park boundary on the South Rim, there is apparently enough business to go around in a slumping economy. At $171 per night plus taxes, this is the most I've ever paid for a Holiday Inn Express. Other than the price, this was a typical H.I. Express. Quite good free (hot) breakfast. Watch out for parking (get there... more
