The Lodge room is spacious with a king bed, 2 easy chairs, a large table and a small fridge. Clean room with good linens. Staying here you are steps from the South Rim Canyon and it is very peaceful before 9 and after 5 when the tour busses are gone! Lodge staff are friendly and helpful. It is expensive to... More

If you're visiting the Grand Canyon for more than a day, you'll have to stay in one of the lodges in the area. The Thunderbird Lodge will probably be your best option, unless you want to splurge on the El Tovar Hotel. The rooms are clean (though because of a small gap at the bottom, mice can come in and... Stayed for one night in May. Thunderbird Lodge looks a bit like a multi-story car park from the outside, but I can assure you its much nicer inside. The room was well appointed, comfortable and had a good shower. We used the restaurant in El Tovar for our evening meal and the food was amazing.

I found my stay at the thunderbird lodge to be better than expected. I read all the reviews but upon getting here i found the hotel to be nice, and clean. We had a partial canyon view room , lways request the 2nd floor. The front desk. staff. was helpful and madecheckin a breeze. The tour deskstaff helped me book.... More

We attempted to make reservations two months in advance, but needed to call in as there were no more availability online. Upon arriving, we spent a good 25 minutes trying to find a parking spot as all the spots near the lodges were full. If you find a good parking spot near you lodge, I would recommend not moving the... Originally we were given a room without a view on the first floor right next to the outside entrance door. Since I am sensitive to sound, I asked to have a different room. The management easily made the change for us (would imagine this might be more difficult during the summer months). We were moved from a king room (only... More

We had a second floor room with partial canyon view. The room was well equipped and very comfortable. The WiFi was also very good; something I hadn’t really expected in the back of beyond! Because of the construction of the lodge, the second floor rooms of the section that we were in looked across a large flat and unattractive roof,... More

We were plesantly surprised by our stay at the Thunderbird. We stayed at Grand Canyon for two nights and had tried to stay at El Tovar both nights as it is considered the nicest in the park. Although we liked our stay at El Tovar, our room was extremely small. Entering our Thunderbird room was a pleasant surprise. It was... More

Stayed with a group tour at Thurnderbird Lodge--had a view of the South Rim and close access to Bright Angel Trail. Woke up to elk grazing outside my window and a view of the sunrise and the South Rim. Nothing remarkable about the hotel--it's clean and comfortable, steps away from the dining room and gift shop. But the location (as... More

My review echoes what many have said before here on Trip Advisor and this helped influence my own choice to stay at the Thunderbird Lodge recently. It's a little dated and certainly not fancy or a 5-star hotel. But the location is incredible and when you wake up and open the shades, you see the Grand Canyon! Only a few... More
