When one is sleeping a few steps from the rim of the Grand Canyon there can't be much to complain about. The room was as one would expect in a modern hotel. Clean, comfortable, with a small frig and coffee maker. The TV/ satellite was not working, and we were told that reception was frequently terrible to nonexistent. The room... More

Lodge was better than expected! Location was fantastic! Canyon beautiful! Lodge was clean and updated. Problem with TV but who cares when you have hiking. Bed comfortable. Pleasant staff. Parking is bad but if you don't want to walk any distance you are in the wrong place. Highly recommended.

There's nothing all that special about this lodge except the amazing view. As another reviewer mentioned, the toilet seemed unstable and rickety, which is something I didn't expect at this price point. Also, the television had maybe 3 or 4 channels with horrid reception (unwatchable), which seems unreasonable, despite the location. I know I'm at the Grand Canyon, however, at... More

Our room was spacious, clean and updated. Keurig coffee maker and good coffee, too! The tub is shallow, but at least there was one to soak some tired aching muscles:) The beds are so comfortable with plenty of pillows, too. We had a street side room, but we will book a rim view next time. So worth it!

We had a lovely room on the canyon side. Truly an unbeatable location because the Grand Canyon can be seen from the room. That said, the toilet was not stable. Each time I perched atop, the entire toilet made a crunching sound against the tile floor and wobbled. It also occurred for the other family with us. We also had... More

Thank you for your comments on our Thunderbird Hotel. I am sorry that the toilet was not in good working order, and hope you reported this promptly to the front desk so you could be moved or have it repaired. I apologize that the hot water was not available, and also hope you reported this to the front desk. The... More

The rooms at the Thunderbird Lodge have just recently been totally renovated. The rooms are attractive besides being located only about 100 feet from the rim of the Canyon. Everything is very close to the Thunderbird Lodge including places to eat. We ate at the Bright Angel Lodge's restaurant for dinner one night and for breakfasts twice. Excellent food and... More

I wasn't expecting much for a lodge in the canyon and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. This is simply a lodge so it's just a bunch of rooms, nothing fancy. You have to check in next door to get your keys since there is no lobby or front desk area. The view of the rim from our room... More

We booked the Thunderbird Lodge primarily because of it's location right next to the southern rim of the Grand Canyon and because it's amenities are the most up-to-date of all the lodgings in the area. The room will be equivalent to what you get at any standard motel and while we were there the cable was out, so no TV...... More

I booked at the very last minute so I was grateful for a place at all but a downstairs room overlooking the road was not ideal. It is very old fashioned and too small to unpack all your things. We arrived after dark and whilst I appreciate that we are in a National Park and light pollution must be avoided... More

As most people stated, you stay at the Thunderbird Lodge for its location and view. The lodging itself is basic low budget motel meets dorm room. We stayed two nights with a winter package deal. Regular price for early February would have been $179 per night for the standard room at Thunderbird, but we paid an extra $10 per night... More
