Location is great: the Grand Canyon is just a stone’s throw away. Unfortunately, there was no view out of our room. Good AC, clean room, several restaurants in walking distance, shuttle bus around the corner. All hotels close to Grand Canyon, such as this, are quiet pricey. At Thunderbird the value for money could be much better. However, would recommend... More

My wife booked a room for us and our teenage son. The lodge was built in the 1960s and has the style of architecture to show it. Rooms weren't huge but made up for it by being a 30 second walk to the South Rim of the canyon and the Arizona Room restaurant where we had dinner one night. They... More

Our room's windows faced the rim trail and had an awesome view. The hotel itself on outside doesn't have that 'lodge' look but the room's do and was very, very nice. Close walk to lodge restaurants. Our first night at this lodge there were 3 moose right outside the door on the grass. It was awesome! Would definitely stay here... More

we (a family of 4 with 2 teens) were originally supposed to stay at the yavapai lodge for 2 nights but after finding out that they wouldn't be able to put us in a room with air conditioning and one of the staff members insisting that it was mentioned on the reservation that there wouldn't be air conditioning in the... We reserved in advance to get a 2nd floor canyon view room. Lower level is too close to walkers on rim trail. Updated bath was nice. Air cooler was a little weak - but that was our only minus. I liked the coffee and big mugs. Convenient location for hiking, sunrise and sunset. Would definitely stay again.

Fantastic place to stay on the South Rim! Nice rooms, comfortable beds, in-room coffee, refrigerators, and eco-friendly practices. And the rim trail is literally right outside your building. We had NO problems with parking - in fact, none of the "negatives" in previous reviews turned out to be true. If anyone is expecting luxury hotel rooms inside any national parks,... More

This earth friendly place had an excellent view, great service, soft bedding, free in room coffee, and lovely soaps. This is a very charming place to stay! None of the negative reviews associated with this hotel were true. No crowds of people! Easy to park. I will stay at this place again. It is located directly on the rim. The... More

Okay, anybody who reads my hotel reviews know that I look for certain things. Over all décor was very good, tailored with nice fabrics, a contemporary feel; the bathroom was small with a really poor exhaust fan...so you have to open the door a crack while you shower, but the bathroom is nice. Nice closet with built in refrig and... More

We stayed in a ground level room with a canyon view for two wonderful nights. (We reserved this room 9 months in advance). The room had exactly what we needed...mini -fridge with built- in water bottle holders, great a/c and 2 comfy queen beds. It was clean and quiet. Bathroom was tight but very tidy. You cannot beat this location.... More

We went on a family vacation to grand canyon!! We booked our accommodation to top of grand canyon and we lucked out in one of the rooms in Thunderbird Lodge---The room number was I think 430...It is extremely clean room and a very clean lodge...from outside it looks old but when you enter the room its very nice.
