We were on the first floor of the rim side, and had decent views of the canyon. Bathroom was quite small, and for a room with two queen size beds it seemed very odd to have only one chair in the room. Could not get the heat to work properly. While it wasn't freezing, we had to keep upping the... More

Highly recommend the Thunderbird Lodge. We hadn't planned on staying at a Grand Canyon hotel, but we're so glad we changed our minds. Staying in the canyon was simply magical. Snow on the ground and being just feet away from the edge was surreal. We woke up early and walked just a few feet and saw some of the best... More

What a great location. The south rim trail is just a few steps from the lodge. Our room was nice and comfortable. The roads were plowed and easy to drive. The parking lot was snowy/icy, though, but we just kept it slow. We stayed out on the rim trail for sunset and had an easy walk back to the lodge.... More

We reached the Grand Canyon after driving through a white-out on US17 through Flagstaff. The sun broke through just in time to walk the rim trail east toward Pipe Creek Vista. The rim trail is snowy but well-groomed. After deciding we didn't see enough, we got a room at Thunderbird Lodge, with a canyon view. Nice beds (2 queens), beautiful... More

The view out of your window of the canyon is great. You are steps from the south rim/trail. The rooms are pretty basic, but very clean and they have very comfortable beds and amenities. Refrigerator and flat screen TV is standard. A Kureg coffee maker is also standard. Parking can be tough, but we found a place right away. There... More

This lodge is perfectly located in the historic village near to the restaurants, shops, art gallery and hiking trails. Included a Keurig, heat lamp in the bathroom and large windows. Nothing fancy but clean and convenient.

We were pleased with our accommodations at the Thunderbird. Our room had a partial view of the canyon, and it was nice! The first thing I saw in the morning was the Grand Canyon!!! No curb appeal, but the rooms are updated and comfortable. Restaurants are steps away at the Bright Angel. Parking was a little tricky. We moved the... More

I expected a dump, not sure why, but it was clean and absolutely fine. Very simple, a place to sleep. It is not a fancy hotel by any means, but a decent motel in the park, next to all the restaurants.

It is typical lodge style accommodation so bear that in mind (think ski lodge). Worked fine for a family of four. We checked in at Bright Angel reception - in peak season it probably worth arriving at checkout time to get a parking spot but in December there was plenty. The room 6205 was a partial canyon view but you... More

As a lover of historic places, El Tovar was my first choice. But, alas, no room at the inn! Don't let the ugly 1970's architecture drive you away. The interiors have been re-done. Marble table, fast HOT water! Nice towels... And literally 30 outside steps to the GRAND freaking CANYON, Worth it! Stay on site ,,,great early morning and late... More
