We booked the overnight mule ride package and stayed two nights at Phantom Ranch. From start to finish our adventure was top notch. We were very well-cared for. The cabins at Phantom are extremely clean and well-maintained. The bunkbeds are comfy and the cabins are heated. Ours had its own private bathroom. The family-style meals are hearty, delicious, and generous.... More

There is no place on Earth like Phantom Ranch. Amazing scenery, delicious food, friendly staff, clean cabins, comfy beds/bedding, hot showers, i could go on. Last week was my 2nd stay at Phantom and it did not disappoint. After a grueling hike down kaibab, the steak dinner and warm bed at Phantom was just what I needed. See you in... More

A great destination after a long hike down the canyon. We stayed in the bunkhouses, 3 adult women, 3 adult men and 2 kids, ages 7 and 10. All the women in our bunk house(10 in all) we very friendly, its a tight space fyi! Everyone sleeps well after a big hike, the beds comfy and you get a towel... More

Phantom Ranch is one of the great treasures of the outdoors, combining natural splendor, architectural beauty, and historical significance. To stay there is a privilege. Too bad it's under the control of the Xanterra corporation, with a government-granted monopoly that the government can't seem to get out of. My experience started by phoning a year in advance at 7am sharp,... More

Thank you for your comments on Phantom Ranch. I do want to expand on a few of your comments which I hope are helpful. The demand for Phantom is overwhelming, and the Ranch is open year-round, 365 days a year. All supplies are brought in by mule, unless items are too large and we contract with NPS to fly them... We got into Phantom Ranch on a cancelation ( I just kept calling), and were so glad not to have to bring down our tent and camping gear. You can book a meal here if you are camping near by and there were a few campers lingering after dinner enjoying a drink and the cozy warm place. Staying in a... More

My wife and I hiked rim to rim (bucket list - almost the bucket. I'm 71 and the temperature was 116 degrees)) and stayed ay Phantom Ranch for 2 nights. We had a cabin. It had 2 bunk beds , a sink and a toilet which was in a separate little room. The showers were in a close-by building. All... More

If I had driven up to Phantom Ranch there would not be half the charm as having done such an amazing and for me challenging hike down the South Kaibab trail. To find such an oasis from any modern ammenities is really special. My only wish upon arrival was a greeting commitee with a presentation of some wine and snacks.... More

what an incredible experience ! the hikes were amazing and to be treated so good at this little oasis at the bottom was such a bonus. Took us 5 hours to hike down South Kaibab (stopping way to often for photo ops - in late october. We arrived at Phantom and after a very cold beer were immediately and happily... More

My husband & I were so fortunate to spend two nights at Phantom Ranch in October. The hike in and out of the Canyon was a bucket-list item for us, and we booked our Phantom reservation almost 13 months in advance. Despite that, we were unable to get a private cabin, so stayed in the bunkhouses. The bunkhouses are exactly... More

I am glad you were able to experience Phantom Ranch, one of the great places on earth. Having been there, I agree that the available seating is a bit firm. I am sending your comments to our Rooms Director for any thoughts on improving. I think chair rentals are a great idea, but the Park Service has to approve all... More

Less than 1% of the annual visitors to the Grand Canyon every make it to the bottom and Phantom Ranch. For those willing to take the extra few thousand steps to get to the bottom they will discover it is worth every step. The views from the bottom of the canyon are even more awe inspiring as the ones from... More
