A wonderful oasis at the bottom the Grand Canyon! Hikers' dorms sleep 10 (5 bunk beds). Each dorm has separate shower, toilet, and sink. Bedding is nice, although pillows are quite flat. You are provided bedding (sheets, blanket, pillow), and one towel. Soap is provded. Air conditioning (air blowing through falling cold water) keeps the dorms comfortable, even when it... more

This is an amazing place at the bottom of the canyon. I can't tell how happy we were to see it when we finished our hike to the bottom. The cabins are rustic but clean. The bunk beds were great. The food is overpriced but they do have to transport all of it in by mule or on foot. We... more

Let's face it. You don't go to the Phantom Ranch for the accomodations or the food. It is a once in a lifetime (for most) chance to see the bottom of the Grand Canyon. The cabins are small, rustic and with a level of cleanliness that would make the average Motel 6 look like a palace. The water (showers and... more

My husband and I, along with our brother-in-law, hiked down Bright Angel Trail on May 6, 2008, and stayed one night at Phantom Ranch. It is a wonderful, shady oasis in the bottom of the Canyon. We were fortunate enough to be able to stay in a cabin. There were 2 bunk beds, a bathroom with a toilet and a... more

We stayed at Phantom Ranch during our overnight mule ride on 4/16, as part of our 10 day San Simeon/Grand Canyon/Las Vegas road trip. We arrived at the corral at about 2:30pm on Wednesday afternoon, sore and tired from the long day on the mules. After everyone got off their mules, we go over and are greeted by one of... more

I have written several reviews of hotels in the past but this one is special. In late March of 2008, two other Dad’s and myself (late 40’s/early 50’s) hiked to and from the Phantom Ranch with our 15 year old daughters. It was a once in a life time trip, and one I would recommend to everyone that is physically... more

One month earlier than last year. Lots of snow, but great weather. Hiked down South Kaibob, 2 nites at Phantom and back up Bright Angle. With my daughter and boyfriend it was a great hike. Phantom was great again. Cabins are comfortable, food is plentyful. One Mule rider complained, thought she was in N.Y. City,(Great a Life.)They ran out of beer,... more

This is the only place to stay down at the bottom of the canyon. Get a cabin, which is completely separate, has heating, a sink, a toilet, and many windows. The price is a great deal (around $90) considering that everything has to come in by mules. Stay here, and enjoy a great dinner and breakfast at the nearby canteen. more

My daughter and I hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon (via the South Kaibab Trail) and stayed fro 2 nights at Phantom Ranch. The first night we were in a dormitory. There are 5 bunk beds in each dorm (total 10 beds) and a shower and separate toilet. The bunk beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Meals... more

I am a city mouse, and had never hiked before in my life, so I was expecting the cabins to be slightly more upscale (please don't laugh at me, I am NOT a camper), but at the end of the day, I was so tired that the beds were fine, and the food was great! steaks, cornbread, beer, great breakfasts,... more
