The other reviews of the lodge are accurate. The climb up is steep--we are in reasonably good shape and made it in 3.30 hours. The rooms are sparse, dark, a double-size "camp" bed with three woolen blankets, and a bathhouse with three pit toilets and 2 cold-water sinks. Making reservations requires calling/e-mailing on the third Monday in October at 7:00AM... More

I found the climb difficult - very steep - thought I would never get there. Loved my little room with its lace curtains and fantastic view down to the lake. I expected noise but was still shocked at the level. The whole house seemed to shake when somebody walked in. However, everybody was great and there was no noise at... More

We booked our stay at the Sperry Chalet in October 2013 for a two night stay in August 2014. The only way there is to hike or ride a horse. We chose to hike and had a great time. It is a strenuous hike, especially with the weight of our packs, but we needed to carry clothing for the changing... More

My husband and I hiked up to Sperry on August 6. I tried to book a room way back in December and was put on a wait list. Two weeks after I was wait listed, I received an e-mail that I had a room. After reading the reviews about Sperry, I was second guessing myself if I would make it... More

My wife and I just stayed at Sperry Chalet last week and it was something we had been looking forward to since we scored a room last winter. We are 61 and 57, in reasonably good shape and made the hike up from the trailhead in about 3:40. The weather had been rather warm, so we didn't need to take... More

The Sperry Chalet is a unique experience that requires some effort on your part. It's a fairly strenuous hike, about 6.5 miles one way with a 3500 elevation gain. There is no electricity, no hot water, no indoor plumbing and no turndown service. The walls of the Chalet are so thin you will hear everything your neighbors say or do.... More

Simply said this is a must on the bucket list, incredible scenery, incredible food, and incredible staff. This is not a place for the faint of heart or couch potatoes. It is a 7 mile hike in with an elevation gain of 3500 feet. The chalet has no electricity or running water and they give you ear plugs because this... More

My family (hubby, 16 and 13 year old) chose this adventure and planned our trip to glacier around the visit. Yes, the hike is very challenging. However, it is so worth it. The location is beautiful, the accommodations are like no other and the lemonade at the hikes end hit the spot. There is some great history here. We met... More

In the summer of 1979 my wife and me left from St. Louis to Glacier National Park to camp for a couple days we stayed the first night camping on the St. Mary's camp, we stopped into a gas station and on their adventure board had two nights available for Sperry Chalet we called and the plan was we took... We stayed one night at Sperry in August 2013. Great food and staff. We hiked up to Sperry Glacier which was a great hike. We were able to book it only 3 days in advance due to a cancellation. Sperry is best for service but Granite Lodge has much better views.
