I booked this resort thru Alaska Tour and Travel on an auto tour thru Alaska with my daughter. I selected all my hotels based upon this website and I can honestly say all the hotels were great except this one. We had driven to the Denali area from Girdwood and the last part of the day was driving thru pouring... more

My wife and I visited the McKinley Chalets Resort and Denali National Park & Preserve as part of a Holland America Line Cruise/Tour in August, 2007. Based on our fairly extensive travel experience (to over 30 countries), we think DENALI IS A MUST-SEE! We felt the McKinley Chalet Resort was outstanding, considering its’ environs and purpose, i.e., basically to house... more

I was very pleased with our 2 night stay. The rooms were clean and looked fabulous. We had stayed in the Canyon Lodge building, it is only 3 years old and it was beautiful (plasma tvs, a comfortable king, and nice ammenities. Sadly, i tried to use the free wi-fi that was offered but i couldn't seem to connect to... more

After walking into a stunningly beautiful and modern lobby, we were sorely disappointed when we were taken to our room in the "Z" building. This is in the older part of the property, which I would guess was built in the 60's. It was in terrible need of a complete refurb (or tear-down and start over). Smoke detector was GONE... more

Stayed for one night and loved the wilderness setting in the woods. the rooms were very large and generous and all round well-maintained. Dinner at the nennana river view grille was fantastic, although a little pricey - My experience with the front desk was amazing! We had mis-booked a river trip and Brett walked us through re-arranging the trip made... more

My family of 4 recently stayed on the McKinley Chalet Resort in Denali, Alaska at the end of June, 2007 for 2 nights. The resort is more like a bunch of motel rooms which resemble cabin like lodging. The location is very nice in a forest type setting in the mountains, but our room was very remote where we had... more

What a disappointment! When we tried to check in we were told that some guests fell ill and extended their stay, so there were no rooms available for us. We made our reservations directly with the hotel back in February, so I thought we were safe. No such luck. We were sent 8 miles away to the McKinley Lodge...not a... more

We had reservations at this hotel for mid-June and when we showed up were advised that "some guests extended their stay and by law we can't kick them out" so we have no rooms for you. Instead we were "upgraded" to the Grande Denali cabins where we had to hike down a dirt road or a very steep path to... more

I am very sorry to hear about the experience you had with us in Denali. I apologize that you did not find the cabins to be an upgrade over our normal hotel rooms; typically our guests are quite pleased by their spaciousness, balconies and sweeping views. As for the poor service you experienced from our staff, I am very disappointed...

Based on other TripAdvisor posts, I had serious concerns about the property before we arrived. Fortunately, we got an upstairs room toward the river, and while the lodge is busy and the rooms are certainly well-used, we were pleasantly surprised by our 2-room suite with a couch in the main area, and a double and single bed in the sleeping... more

Thanks for the input! I'm sorry to hear about the housekeeping issue, as that was surely not a welcomed sight after a full-day tour. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

My wife and I recently went on Holland America Cruise Tour. Which by the way was a wonderful experience, except for our stay at the Mckinley Chalet Resort. The resort is run or should I say mis-run by a company called Aramark. From the moment we arrived everything went down hill. The place was very busy with people checking in... more

Please accept our apologies for the disorganization you encountered. We have made extensive improvements to our shuttle system throughout the season to better accommodate our guests as they move around the property. I'm glad to hear you were able to experience the beauty of Denali National Park nonetheless. Thanks for writing.
