This is a beautiful island treasure,,, on a recent overnight family trip we had the pleasure (NOT) of listening to loud latin and hip hop music pretty much at all hours,,, portable generators are EVERYWHERE, people spilling gas all over the ground refilling these things, and you are basically tripping over power cables everywhere u walk,,, Park Services needs to... My only complaint is that I was surrounded by obnoxious music. But aside from human flaw, I had a great stay and would recommend this to everyone. Just make sure you pick a secluded spot or away from rude neighbors!

Boca Chita is a pristine little island in south Biscayne Bay with a protected lagoon able to accommodate 20-30 boats. It is crowded and noisy on the weekends as the younger boating crowd has now discovered the place and have ruined the peace and quiet with outrageously loud hip hop, rap and Latino music played all day long and well... I took a day sailing trip out there with my new wife any we absolutely loved it, Our Capt set up a BBQ for us in the very clean pick nick area, the bugs were almost nil as we walked one of the Key paths around., The water was a little chilly as we did a little snorkeling off the... More

I have camped many times on Boca Chita and have always had a great time. The channel into the harbor is well marked and the harbor itself is excellent and well sheltered. On the weekends try to arrive early as the harbor fills up quickly. Another option is to arrive at dusk, when the many day boaters have departed. The... More

Advice from a native redneck: tour Boca Chita and Elliot between November and March. Bugs are then at a minimum, but carry some bug spray tp be sure. I was just out there and had a delightful stay at Elliot.

I love Boca Chita. I took a trip there with Biscayne Sailing. We camped out. The place is beautiful, best to visit on weekdays. Bugs are around wherever you camp. That's part of camping. Having boats and a captain made this trip more excellent.

Infested with mosquitos carrying the West Nile Virus, and lime decease carrying ticks. Horrible, Horrible!
