I have camped in numerous state parks, national forests, and national parks throughout the east coast. Blackwoods mostly falls into the bottom half of those experiences. The campground land is pretty with loads of tree cover. The rangers were extremely friendly. However the sites were very close together. So much so that we could hear our neighbors snoring and breaking... More

Stayed here for 5 nights and enjoyed our time very much, of course, weather was perfect, which helps so much. We stayed in our 17' trailer and camped near some friends. Thanks Ashley at check in for making that happen! You were so sweet, and I know some people complain that it takes a long time to check in, but... More

Checked in on a Thursday night after dark in the rain. We were the third in line to check in and I was surprised at how long it took. From when we pulled up to when we pulled out was over 20 minutes. The young man working the office had zero personality and wasn't super friendly. We were there when... More

Acadia was everything we'd heard and surpassed our expectations! Camping at Blackwoods was nice, quiet for the most part. There are no showers in the campground, but coin operated just outside the park entrance, which were fine to use. There was also a small country store in the same area where you could get a cup of coffee or some... More

My mother, sisters and the family dog camped at Blackwoods over the Labor Day weekend. We had 2 sites and were near the restrooms (convenient). The campsites are well managed and well maintained. Restrooms are clean. I love the convenience of being able to head out on any number of hikes right from the campsites. The check in process was... More

My husband and I stayed 2 nights in our small tent in Blackwoods during the week before Labor Day. The location within the park is fantastic. Within 15 minutes we were able to access all of the hiking and climbing trails we had planned to explore, as well as Bar Harbor for dinners. As other reviewers have mentioned the bathrooms... More

Just spent five days at Blackwoods Campground with my girlfriend and we loved it. Campgrounds are fairly close together but you're certainly not on top of other campsites. Well shaded and clean sites. Bathrooms were well taken care of - a little dirty but that was due to sloppy campers, not unattended bathrooms. Awesome location. Just 5-10 minute drive to... More

Spent a week at Blackwoods CG while visiting Acadia and wish I could have stayed for another week. In my opinion this CG is ideally situated in the heart of Acadia where you have easy access to hiking trails, ocean cliffs, Bar Harbor and the park's shuttle service, which will easily take you anywhere on Mt. Desert Island. The Park... More

Very shaded, mossy well maintained gorgeous, with trails to all that Acadia has to offer. We loved our seven nights here. Pay showers outside of the park, but at only 20 dollars a night to camp, we could splurge for a long shower.

Overall we had a great experience at Blackwoods Campground and a AMAZING time at Acadia. I am not a avid camper. We (myself, husband & daughters of 10 & 11yrs) go camping about once a year. This was my first experience camping without water & electric and with children. That said, if you are like me, this is what I... More
