Overall we had a great experience at Blackwoods Campground and a AMAZING time at Acadia. I am not a avid camper. We (myself, husband & daughters of 10 & 11yrs) go camping about once a year. This was my first experience camping without water & electric and with children. That said, if you are like me, this is what I... More

Stayed at ANP for 3 days/2nights. Our spot #A43 was about a 2-3" walk to the free shuttle that brought us to all major sites in park and also into Bar Harbor-LOVED it! Very shady campground that is only a 10" walk to the ocean via a beautiful walking trail (ate breakfast there 1st morning). We met people from all... More

Site was an acceptable size... not too close to our neighbors but you could hear everyone's voices in the sites closest to you. The park is very clear about their rules and expectations. We did receive one notification that we needed to move our clothes line though. Everything needs to be on the gravel pad and you're not to step... More

First time camper, really enjoyed Blackwoods. Staff was accessible and willing to provide info and the campgrounds/ surrounding national park. Campgrounds were in prime location to reach some of the most sought after hikes at Acadia. In particular Cadillac Mountain. The grounds itself were clean and quiet. Bar Harbor was a quick drive away as well. Awesome experience, go!

FUN FACT: Did you know that Blackwoods Campground was located in a Library, located within a Hospital, located within a monastery? Neither did we, but apparently it's forbidden to so much as fart louder than a whisper here else draw the wrath of the sound police/park rangers. I get it. It's outdoors and the camp sites are located close to... More

Site was Clean and large. Very little noise from the neighbors and a great view form the cliffs. Could use hot water and showers. The staff was very friendly and loved to help with whatever you needed. The option with the amphitheater is a good option to have.

I tent camped in the Blackwoods camping area for 4 days in late July. Pros: - Nice restroom facilities - they seem to have been recently renovated and were very well maintained. - Reasonably priced at $20/night + $20 for a weekly park vehicle pass. - Located within Acadia National Park for easy access to all that the park has... The good: ACCESS by car - This campground is a reasonable drive from Bar Harbor and other towns on Mount Desert Island. You can cut over from Otter Creek Road after the coastal portion of the Park Loop Road and save yourself quite a bit of time! ACCESS by bus - You can take the Island Explorer Route 3 (Blackwoods/Sand... More

With stayed with our RV at Blackwoods for 3 nights. Good things: inexpensive and inside the beautiful Acadia NP. However, it is located in a rather cheerless forest with no views. Sites are not great and relatively close to one another. That is why there is some noise disturbance of generators from other RV's (there are no hook-ups). Restrooms are... More

Our family spent four days here. If you are expecting true wilderness camping like we were, then this campground will be a disappointment. Most of the sites are very close to one another, and although it is well landscaped with trees between the sites, you are still very much aware of your neighbors' presence. In order to allow additional tree... More
