If you get there at 11:59 and be really super nice to the staff tell them that you want a secluded camp spot. This is a great park but some of the camp spots aren't so great if you get there late you're screwed.

This National Park does not like RV's. Go to the park headquarters (as we did). You will find ONE place for an RV to park. I knew a guy once who said that if you get bad service in a restaurant, you must leave a very small tip. If you leave no tip they think you forgot if you leave... More

We really didn't need much in a campsite, so this suited us just fine. If we come again, we will stay at Seawall to try to get away from the crowds a little bit. We like more privacy and Bar Harbor is my idea of a nightmare way to spend an afternoon, so we didn't really need to be on... More

This is a nice New England campground, that is part of Acadia National Park. The campsites are good, facilities are clean. Our spot was spacious and had a flat place for us to put up our tent. We camped here in October during Columbus Day/ Canadian Thanksgiving and while every site was full it was still beautiful and relaxing. Free... More

We stayed three nights in Blackwoods as tenters. They assigned us a space next to RV sites, and on one evening, the RV folks had a big overhead light and were playing their stereo so loud we had trouble getting to sleep in the tent. The problem is that some tent sites are right next to RV sites. Ask for... More

RVs running their generators. Camp sites on top of each other. Denuded woodland. An absence of wildlife, except for squirrels that look tame and fed on human food. And a gravel surface you can't get a small tent peg into. It's a shame this is the closest to a wilderness camping experience you can get in Acadia. Had to jump... More

Blackwoods Campground is a great place to stay. We stayed in area B and found it to be excellent. There is a great spot on the grounds where you can walk to the ocean cliffs and sit and enjoy the sunset. Area A is closer to the ocean and a 10 min walk from area B. Another great part of... More

We went in July 2014- and it was worth the drive. You can get your park pass on check-in (skip the line when you cross the bridge to Acadia) Perfect home base to explore Acadia for a week with the kids. Hikes, beach, lakes and more hikes. Perfect.

I have camped in numerous state parks, national forests, and national parks throughout the east coast. Blackwoods mostly falls into the bottom half of those experiences. The campground land is pretty with loads of tree cover. The rangers were extremely friendly. However the sites were very close together. So much so that we could hear our neighbors snoring and breaking... More

Stayed here for 5 nights and enjoyed our time very much, of course, weather was perfect, which helps so much. We stayed in our 17' trailer and camped near some friends. Thanks Ashley at check in for making that happen! You were so sweet, and I know some people complain that it takes a long time to check in, but... More
