This was my first trip to an animal park on Africa and it did not disappoint. The setting was beautiful and unique, with the river, the surrounding forest and the incredible views. My favorite time was in the morning when the temps were still cool. Riding up the glassy river, we saw a variety of river birds, rhinos and antelope.... More

Thank you for you kind words - we are really glad that Sibuya met and hopefully surpassed your expectations. From your comments, i suspect I know who your ranger was - a real card with a wicked sense of humour. Actually very knowledgeable, but not above playing the odd prank with guests he gets on well with - no doubt... More

Wanted to take our two small children on a safari and found this place as one of few places that accept small children. It is a great experience, not only with children, but also without. Having been on safari before, I can say that this really is quite a unique place I believe with the river experience and the river... More

Thank you for your kind words. i am happy to hear you and your kids had a wonderful time. It is a pity you didn't jump into our 18km swimming pool. It really is lovely in the riiver, currently a delicious 25deg, and to avoid the mud we just jump off one of the boats or paddleskis. Next time don't... More

What an amazing 2 days!! We choose Sibuya as we were travelling with our 8 month old baby & wanted to stay clear of malarial areas. But what a great choice! The 45 minute boat ride to get to the resort meant a chance to see some stunning water birds & arrived chilled & relaxed. When we were taken to... More

Having visited many game reserves throughout South Africa and Africa, Sibuya was a unigue "river "experience in that it took a 45 minute boat ride to get to the Lodge. On the way we saw a variety of "water" birds which one doesn't normaly see in other game reserves.( We are avid Birders"). Most game drives started and ended with... More

It is great to hear you think we are a unique reserve, and hopefully you have seen most (if not all) of the birds you wanted to see. More

We booked a 3 night stay at Sibuya last week and have to say we had a great experience. All overtook our expectations by far. The in total 5 game drives with ranger Jaco were suberb, so was as well the stay in the luxury tent. Food and drinks were absolutely more then good. Atmosphere was so relaxed that it... More

We wished we would have stayed longer. What an unbelieveable experience. Great staff, food, atmosphere and accomodation. The game drives were great, we saw all of the big five and much more. We stayed in the forest camp which only has eight double rooms (or tents or villas). The small scale makes it very personal. We will come back!!! More

Everything about this place was perfect. Pros - The ranger - he was excellent, entertaining, laid-back and was even to expertly manage the bratty children one family had with them. - Food - it was great and there was (too) so much of it! Great place to gain 10 lbs ;) - Location - beautiful place off a river (no... More

The Eastern Cape is becoming a real safari camp destination. It is not like Kruger or some of the places in KZN. A lot of the game reserves are reclaimed farm land. Some of the game reserves are relatively new. I think Sibuya is one of these. It is extremely comfortable--although we were there dead of winter, the tents were... More

I think the thing we will remember most about our trip to Sibuya is getting stuck in the mud on our first game drive! Apart from that, it's a lovely place to stay - the 'tents' are spacious and comfortable and the hot water bottles were really welcome at night. The food was delicious - I loved the sweet potato... Stayed here for two nights on business. The safari tents were very comfortable and clean but quite cold in the winter. The meals were wonderful and the chef was able to make something for a vegetarian (me). Kerrow took us on a game drive and we were able to see rhinos at a very close distance. Nice birding and scenery... More

Thank you for these comments. The comment about monkeys around the camp is interesting. We have a lot of Vervet monkeys at Sibuya (in fact about 5 separate colonies), but unfortunately when monkeys lose their fear of humans they become very destructive, quite dangerous and eventually have to be destroyed. We would absolutely hate to have to do this, so... More
