This is a brilliant place to pass a relaxing, comfortable and tranquil few days. The facilities are excellent, bed extremely comfortable, the breakfast everything it should be. You have a garden kitchen to use with washing machine and drier -fridge-freezer for food and wine, glasses, cutlery and crockery and small hotplate to cook on. Beds made & room cleaned daily,... Spent two nights here in the summer. First night rather disturbed - no fault of the hotel - water flooding property next door with pompiers, police etc. to sort it out rather noisily at about 3.00am! Otherwise an excellent place to stay Large comfortable en suite room well furnished, although we did pick two of the hottest nights of the... More

The house is wonderful and very spacey, which combined with the super-friendly couple running the place makes for an excellent atmosphere for visiting this side of the country. Rooms and bathrooms are big and furnished with good taste. Gardens and swimming pool are great to relax a bit. We also enjoyed breakfast, especially the different jams. It surprised us that... More

Just returned from a very pleasant and enjoyable stay at Hotel de Surgeres in the centre of the town. This small hotel is very comfortable, a typical french house with plenty of character. It has a large garden with swimming pool and enclosed parking. The owner, Mr Depardieu made us very welcome and helped us considerably with local information. His... More

Wonderful surprise behind an unpromising facade. An exceptional chambre d'hotes. M.Depardieu could not have been more helpful or generous with his hospitality. He went out of his way to make our 9 days stay memorable. The twin-room suite was spacious, comfortable and well-maintained although a little noisy by being at the front of the building overlooking the main road. Breakfasts... More

We decided to go 'off piste' rather than staying in nearby La Rochelle. Hotel de Surgeres was exactly what we were looking for and more: a grand house, a very spacious suite 'Les Roses de la Vie', an extensive garden with swimming pool, an attentive host who did everything he could to make us feel welcome and comfortable. M. Depardieu... More

From the mysterious facade - it looked shut but it wasn't - to the restored elegance of the interior, this logis was a delight in all respects. Our host - M. Depardieu - could not have been more helpful with our bikes and our luggage. The rooms were spacious, light and airy, and the bathrooms the same - the Vespres... More

We stayed one night at this hotel on 2 September while travelling from Roscoff to the Dordogne. All the rooms have individual names, were were in Les Vesperes. The room was very a good size and very clean with good quality linen and fittings. The bathroom is enormous! Don't be put off by the appearance of the front of the... More
