We have stayed at the Ballathie a number of times over the past couple of years, always with a voucher deal. The location is beautiful - right on the banks of the Tay, and approached from the road by a long, well maintained drive through woods. We have stayed in both the main house and the Riverside Annex and the... More

We stayed only one night at Ballathie house but we enjoyed it immensely. The grounds are beautiful with plenty of walks. Dinner was excellent, staff extremely efficient and service top notch. Good location for exploring Scotland and for heading off for longer walks into the hills.

Nice feel to it. Country house chic. Grounds are lovely. Location not isolated. Bedrooms are fine. I stayed here ten years ago and remember the breakfast as being the best I'd had in an hotel. This time the buffet breakfast wasn't up to four star standard.

We have stayed at Ballathie many times over the past 12 years. Once a year in November or December with a large group of friends and more recently in the early spring as well, but just the two of us. We always choose a room overlooking the river Tay for the views and morning sunlight. We thought the food on... More

Had a wonderful couple of nights here. The Hotel is lovely and has that special ambience that you don't actually feel like you're staying in a Hotel. The food is amazing, loved eating there. Beautifully prepared and served. Some lovely walks in the grounds and the view over the Tay is wonderful. I was especially impressed with the staff, always... More

Step back in time and stay at this wonderful hotel to make your stay a special occasion. It has to be special, as the prices are like the hotel's standards, very high! We had a voucher to help but the food is expensive 'though excellent. The location is superb, looking over the river Tay in the breath taking morning sunlight.....WOW!... More

This was our first visit and I would love to go back. The food was fantastic for both dinner and breakfast. The owner spoke to everyone at dinner to check everything was ok. It is an old estate house filled with paintings, stuffed animals, antiques and books. Nevertheless, it is in good condition and rooms are fitted out like a... More

Recently stayed for busines and left dissapointed that such wondeful food could be so badly let down by average accomodation and a horrific wine selection. We were asked to go down to the cellar to look at the available wines and I was amazed to see hardly anything available in stock. Whatever the reason, this was a very bad oversight... More

Our third year at The Ballathie and as usual continued to delight... The WiFi was MUCH better ! Thank you the food is still yummy although I do agree it might be nice to have some Bar food to mix and match with the fine dining option as three nights on the trot gets a little samey. I have to... Dear Mrs_Picky1 Thank you for your review of Ballathie, it was a pleasure welcoming you back for your 3rd time. Since your last stay, we have successfully installed free wifi throughout the main hotel and the riverside building. Andrew, our General Manager, arranged for your ‘Beaver Stick’ to be sent to you, I am glad you received this safely! I... More
